Wow really learned ‘Scratchers” WORK!!!- cooling

This is what cable scratchers have done to my rails and why I’ll never mount any type of scratchers to my rails again.

Wow really learned ‘Scratchers” WORK!!!- cooling

Yeah there’s quite some tension there lol. They work for now and do just fine, but when your riding and look down at them when they’re down, they do look like their a tad floppy so to speak. I think by shortening the aluminum sleeves by about 3/16” or so, there won’t be any play at all.

Wow really learned ‘Scratchers” WORK!!!- cooling

Nice! Zip tie! LOL I think for next year I’m going to take the aluminum sleeves and shorten them up a bit so the zip ties aren’t needed. I did put the zip ties on the outer side of the spring so that the spring nib that goes through the skid mount, goes through to the other side of it.

Wow really learned ‘Scratchers” WORK!!!- cooling

Was out yesterday and had no choice but to try out the brp scratchers. It was hard as a rock until about noon, and they worked awesome! Kept temps where they should be, provided good lube for the skid and the best part is, you don’t even have to get off the sled to unhook them or put them back...

    Longest day trip?

Last time I rode in -35 I had my 2000 srx 700 windchill was -45. Family day weekend in emsdale on baylake. My brother and I didn’t last 2hrs. I won’t ride in that crap anymore unless I get caught in it. Actually, my hand warmers quit working....

    Longest day trip?

I started in markdale this morning. Left the truck at 9am and got back at 5pm. Did just over 400kms on amazing trails. That time of year! went over to singhampton, collingwood, Owen sound, sauble, port Elgin, chepstow, mildmay, through Durham which was absolutely perfect and then back to markdale.

    Display gauge

I figured I would post it here because it can apply to the winder or viper. I have an irritating line going through the left side of the screen on my viper, basically cuts off half of my temperature readout. My question is, if I bought a new display gauge would the dealer or anyone be able to...

    Longest day trip?

we started at the valley inn and went south. This was our route. It was incredible crossing over to manitoulin island. Flat as can be, bluebird day, and the views were awesome! Love riding in Sudbury area when there’s a good amount of snow. Mattawa is another favourite.

    Longest day trip?

we did or 480kms in about 11hrs if I remember correctly. Left at 7:30am, lunch stop with a few too many stops along the way, and I think we got back to the truck around 6:30. Then we drove home right after....4hrs in the truck sucked!

    Longest day trip?

How long did that take you? We did 480kms in Sudbury last year, but had a couple guys with us that were pretty slow and always felt the need to stop for smoke breaks...

    Thinking of a track upgrade

I’m also thinking about a bigger lug track for next year. Even on a viper the track just spins in loose snow, I’d like it to get more traction on the heavier snow days. If I do, it’ll probably be a 1.5” ripsaw ll. Good tracks, but the 1.25” just doesn’t have enough bite

    Longest day trip?

What’s the longest day trip you guys have done? Miles or kms, however you put it. When did you start and when did you finish? My buddies and I usually ride long days over 400kms. Our longest day was 480kms, but were thinking we’d like to do 600kms. Anyone else like putting in long days?

    Drive/jackshaft bearing repacking

I just did mine tonight, was surprised to see a China bearing behind the brake rotor. Are they China bearings in all model years? I have an 18’ viper. bearing behind secondary is a Japan bearing which is nice to see. I just used standard chevron grease. It’s all I had LOL
