Anyone using the spring tension relocating bar for their Winders? I haven't had ANY trail time on this sled since I bought it in November ( '19 SRX) but one thing I noticed is there's not a lot of sit in when I am on the seat. I read that the spring tension bar takes preload off them by lowering...
Can I change the bolt that clamps the torque link to the upper cross shaft of the rear skid with the skid still bolted in place? I broke one and replaced it with what I happened to have at the time and now rather than drop the rear skid down and go through all the procedure to put it back in...
Yeah I had to go back and re read the pages of the secondary settings to make it sink in. I was trying to apply what Rockerdan had done to his where he set his up to float and is using Cat shims between the sheaves for deflection.
Never got the owners manual with my sled but I'm hoping the dealer I bought it from can find it so I'm working off the downloaded service manual. I keep trying to go back to what I've been doing with my older SRXs and how I set up the clutches on those. Between what I have been reading and...
What I'm missing are shims for the float of the secondary, well I'm missing the deflection one too but my initial issue was the the large flat washer was pushing the secondary open as I tightened up the clutch bolt.I found a washer that cured that problem so now the bolt tightens up and allows...
Yes. I thought maybe they fell off and were laying in the bellypan but no. Now that I think about it before I took the belt off the clutches I remembered it was below the lip of the secondary so the previous owner must've been doing some messing around with them.
I'm guessing there are some shims missing on my secondary bolt because when I tighten the bolt up it's opening the sheaves. I had both primary and secondary apart today to inspect and clean them. I noticed the primary in great shape so a quick spray and rinse to clean out any dust and a scuff on...
How about we put this topic to rest before it gets out of hand. We all know manufacturers don't refine their own oils, make their own filters, blend their own cleaning products etc. It boils down to what your relationship is like with the local dealer and theirs with the local rep. In the end we...
Still waiting for my service manual to come but I'll be ready to put the skid back in tomorrow when my new idler bearings show up. So for now I need some torque numbers.
#1 small idler wheel bolts/nuts
#2 rear axle bolt
#3 link on upper shaft, need the torque for the clamp bolt holding link to...
I don't know the name of the law but there's one in the US that says a manufacturer cannot mandate the use of their oil only. If they insist on it then they have to supply the oil free. The only way a warranty can be refused is if a particular part, oil, fuel or whatever was proven to be the cause...
What's everyone using for a replacement battery in their Sidewinders? Going back to the stock Yuasa one or have you found a better one? Same type of lead acid or AGM, gel cell?
Got er home Friday evening. A bit of a curfluffle with coordinating with the salesman, the delivery driver and my work for the time off but made it happen. Quick question about the secondary rollers. Mine don't have any flat spots on them, none that I've found at least, but the rollers are a...
I didn't want to come right out and say it was probably a Cat issue with tolerances but that's kind of what I figured lol.As far as removing the bearing from their respective carriers do they require a press or is there a retainer that comes out to allow them to be popped out and put in a parts...
I've watched whatever videos I can find on the subject of Sidewinder/Viper axle and jackshaft bearings and they all seem to follow the same trend of cleaning and re-greasing in place. It would seem to me that doing that work would be easier if they were in a wash tank so that begs the...
I'm working out the details to get my sled home and would like some informed opinions from those that have had Winders as to what aftermarket parts work better for the OEM substitution. I don't know what kind of shape the upper chaincase gear is in or the secondary rollers so what have been the...
Well I am pleased to update this thread that I got an email yesterday morning from the dealer that had the first SRX I inquired about for sale, which was subsequently spoken for and apparently sold. The couple who spoke for it decided to go with a new sled so as luck would have it I was the next...
Well ladies and gentlemen I can't comment on other area of the snow belt but around here if you see a sled, specifically a Winder, that you like or want don't hesitate.I've missed out on 3 so far in less than a week,2 just in the past 2 days.It appears to be a sellers market this fall.I guess I'll...
