I am well aware of the Yamaha XC effort. Nice guys. Now they finally will have a sled that is competitive. I actually felt bad for them watching them go down the ditch. The ISOC sx effort is a totally different kettle of fish. If Yamaha is going to drop that kind of cash on a open mod...
It would be almost impossible for Yamaha to have any less money into the development of the viper. Hopefully they are investing it in developing their own sled, or at least some new engines.
Has anyone else noticed that Ben Lindbom, and Steve Taylor are on the rider list in ISOC? Ben's profile says Yamaha Pro Open. What are the odds we will see something that kind of resembles a viper at Duluth?
A typical AC produced sled can be uncrated and ready to ride in just a couple hours if you have the faintest idea of what you are doing. Done it many times.
The average rider will never be able to tell the difference if there is 2 wheels or 4 in the procross chassis. The 4 wheel kit makes a difference on a lake race, or in a long XC race. If you break one wheel on a 4wheel kit you will make it back to the repair session. The AC tri- hub design is...
Too funny a good friend of mine texted today that he was having a beer and lunch at the black cat waiting for the tour. Good for you guys, I'm sure it beat the heck out of working...lol ;)!
Since no one has a production viper,(as they seem to have gone into hiding), and since no one has ever had a documented blown belt. What in the hell is all the anxiety about, a 1/2in less on a belt? An extra 20 bucks for a belt? How much does it cost to fill up the sled...and remember this...
Evidently there must be an agreement where the Yami's and the 7000's show up at dealers around the same time. Thats the only reason I can think of for the vipers not to be in showrooms now. The Yamaha distribution set up can't be that bad!
There are 2 places where you will hear "those that work at AC are very happy with this arrangement", the PR person at the AC corporate office in Minneapolis, and Totally Yamaha.
This is all stuff from the prototypes from last spring. Relax. And I'm not sure were your sled has been for the last 3 weeks. We all know what a multi week drive it is between TRF and Moorhead! It is going to be a really good sled.
If you want they could mount the motor even higher in the chassis, and you could get your 90's belt. Yamaha did not pick the center to center. The world has changed. Relax, it's going to be fine!
I really wouldn't get worked up about some peoples statements. Yesterday it was a "completely new secondary" on the 2014 AC products, today it isn't. Jesus.....Everybody and their brother knows that next year the genesis goes into the proclimb chassis. That's where all the new Yamaha sled...
Just curious how the Yamaha distribution system works. Obviously this year is different, but in the past did everything go to Wisconsin and then to the dealers from there, or did it all get distributed from a yard in Cali or somewhere else on the west coast?
So if Arctic Cat redesigned the clutch and changed the sheave angle, and the fins, it is NOT a different clutch? What is your definition of different? Yes, I agree, Arctic Cat does have access to the best snowmobile engineering team in motorsports.....
