Like SJ said, Steel bolt vs aluminum tank, Steel bolt usually wins. Drill and re tap the tank a size larger and you will be good to go.

See my post on this. So far my extra strap fix has been perfect. 3200 Miles and some very ruff stuff 2 weeks ago and all is good. Ride on!

On page 2 of this forum. I have a simple diagram. What this does is make the strap more rigid so it doesn't fold over as easy and get chewed up by the lugs when the suspension collapses.

Update on my fix with adding the extra strap. 3200 miles and they look like new! Ride on!

I don't think so. I have an 01 SRX and they have a different bolt pattern than my 09 Nytro.

Sounds like is time to get a lawyer and take leagal action if indeed it was caused by this bolt falling out. Especially because it is recalled. I would think you would be eligible for some compensation and a new sled.
