Nice to see the positive feed back. I had to work out a few kinks but I have no regret with my 07 Phazer purchase. I did 500 km the other weekend and didn't have one sore muscle. You can't get sick of this thing..too much fun.
Fan was only an update in the US not Canada. Canadians have to contact Yamaha, not the dealer and hope they will cover. That's what I'm doing right now.
I had the same issue as wildmann. It started fine in -16C but the -20 seems to be the magic number for it to freeze.
I am going to replace the fuel pump relay and then spray WD 40 on them to help keep the water out.
Instead of moving them, i was wondering if covering them may be better. I...
I think Soul hammer may be on to something...I bought my FX used, this fall. It's cold starting was pretty bad. 10 seconds of cranking. After I put fresh gas and took it on a trip, its starts after 4 cranks in very cold weather. Much much better. I think the gas made all the difference.
I went on the old postings for links to download a service manual, and they are saying "deleted or no longer available". Does anyone have a fresh link to get a manual? Thanks
I had a 700 xcr for 8 years and just got the phazer fx. I put 500km on it last weekend. I couldn't believe how good my back felt at the end of the weekend. Its great in tight to some-what tight trails. But its not a great sled for rail line or wide fast trails. It feels like you are working...
What does the relay look like. I just blasted the heat gun by the fuses beside the battery. Are the relays the black and red cables by the fuses with the rubber booty on the top?
I have an 07. I had exact same problem. my fuel pump relay froze this weekend at minus 23C. Had to use a hair dryer. Did it 2 out of 3 mornings.
Have you found a permanent fix?
My relay's froze this weekend 2 out of 3 mornings at -23C.
The fuel pump wouldn't work because of it. 10 minutes with a hair dryer fixed it. No snow in there, just cold temp.
I was thinking I have to get a battery powered hair dryer if they make them. But there must be a permanent fix...
I got it done today. It able to leave the top plastic in place, so I didn't have to remove it and mess with the headlight adjustment bolts.
I just pushed the rubber gasket type thing on the fill tube below the plastic (pushed the rubber, bit by bit in a circular direction). It was warm out...
It is running well once it starts, so I am assuming the plugs are OK, right?
I did start it a few times when I first got it and shut it off before it fully warmed up.
But I have ran it no problem since then.
Do you guys think I should bother?...or just keep some pairs just in case...
I just bought the sled used, with 2000 km on it, so I wanted to check the colour and put a new set in, so I know the mileage on them.
It takes about 10 seconds of cranking to cold start. I was hoping this would improve that, but I doubt it.
Yeah, I couldn't see anyway to get the gas tank off without taking that top piece of plastic off first (and it is connected to the headlight adjustment screws).
