WHO DOES YAMAHA MAKE ENGINES FOR????

They have made some of the Aprilia motorcycle engines. They designed the new Volvo V8 they might build it too In the past the SHO Taurus motors, and I think the Toyota Celica also. I wouldnt be surprised if they had a hand in the new 400+HP Lexus IF motor.

Yamaha 4-strokes vs Doo DI E-techs

I think Doo is hedging their bets 2 ways. 1. If the e-tec DI is the ultimate, then why offer a 4 stroke 1200? 2. The DI 600 in theory should have the power (or close to) the 600 HO but it doesn't! So why did they detune it? Might be they are concerned with reliability. Time will...

My experience with over 800 miles on the fx nytro

rfabro is right, makes your coolant conduct more heat. Good product, not a gimmic. But it does most of its work with the water not the antifreeze. That is why I put fresh 60/40 in, which is fine for minuis 40F. Worth noting even without the water wetter, 60/40 will conduct more heat away than...

My experience with over 800 miles on the fx nytro

You can make your new ball joints last longer if you put a drop of oil on the balls often, every day you ride would be optimum, only takes about 30 seconds. Overheating.... Id try putting in fresh 60-40% antifreeze abd a 1/2 bottle of Red Line water wetter. The Yamaha factory coolant, just...

    Needle bearings on monoshock...Help!

It is possibly a common needle bearing you can get from a local bearing dealer. Can you read any numbers with a magnifying glass? On many of them there is a tiny plastic cage that holds the tiny rollers in. That must have broken

    Real MPG info please

If you trail and Lake ride mainly, I would not rule out a newer Apex or even a Vector. Depends on priorities, MPG wise you cant beat a vector. Still a 09 Nytro has some advantages for ditch banging and deeper powder. There I'd push for a bigger aftermarket tank, because I like long bagger...

    A straight answer

Simmons skis have an optional fin type blade that bolts on. Shoots a bunch of snow onto the insidee of the track. These and/or ice scratchers or the bolt could make a huge difference. Actually I know they do because I ride with a guy that has the Simmons with the fins.

    05 vector runs hot?

My vector had the light on a number of times. I did the rear cooler however, on my Apex I solved the problem by installing a fresh 55% antifreeze mix and 1/2 a bottle of Red Line Water Wetter and no rear cooler. Cheap and effective as I have never had the light come on again.

This is a major key point!!!!! A lot of guys know this but many may not. the first 2/3 or 3/4 can wear very fast, then in many cases wear slows way down. Why is that?? Because as the plastic wears the track comes in greater contact with the wheels. After re reading this thread, I have to...

    A straight answer

Both really sharp guys, Turk and Yamahnator, they say looser is worse for slide wear. It may work better for me because of the bigger wheels and wear pads. Guys are saying tight or loose, still wearing too fast. That tells me that the closed window unclipped may be the issue and wheels that are...

I trust you, earlier off topic post deleted : )

    Front ball joint failure

back on topic, problem is they are not really ball joints (like atutomotive style) w/ rubber seals w/ a supply of lube inside. They are open spherical rod end bearings. Put a drop of 30 or 20w 50 wt oil on them each day you ride and your next set will last a lot longer.

    apex summer to-do list

good idea, I got to do #1, 3 .4 and 6 I highly recommend the Ulmer Bronze oilite a arm and bulk head bushings Get the spindle bushing from Pioneer as I do not believe any bronze pieces are available for those.

doogs, you are right sir, your thread. But man, some of these guys do not get it and good respectful threads are going to be hard to come by unless some of these attitudes are addressed Exactly, but what do you do? you knocked my opinion AND personal experiance, and did similar with MrSled. I...

    ON THE VERGE!!!

That is a positive attitude  Post up in Ulmers section in vendor, that you would like a bronze oilite bushing kit for the Phazer. I put one on my Apex and know it is going to last a LONG time...bronze oilite>plastic Second, I dont consider those ball joints. They are spherical rod...

    A straight answer

That is blowing it out of proportion, you dont have to cut holes and add clips, it is either or. Wheels you will have to replace anyway. And the wheels I use have replacable bearings, so that puts me way ahead of the game there too. Simple math tells me I have more than broken even, plus I...

    A straight answer

MrSled touched on a key issue. back in 06 I had amazingly quick hyfax wear on my Apex, worse than otherguys I rode with (that was probably due to keeping my track tightened to spec, 1? inches at 22 lbs pull) Switching to larger wheels (Doo) and adding SLP wear pads completely cured it, going...

Oil & Oil Filters, there IS a difference!

Yeah, Fram takes a big hit quality wise. Hot topic on the Honda car forums because many of the domestic OEM Honda filters are make by fram. Besides the Napa, the Bosch and the Mobile 1 also are rated very highly
