I got my shock back from where I had it revalved and immediatly noticed the little rods coming out from both ends of the shock. I'm not too happy about that because when I sent it in I'm positive it wasn't like that....but #*$&@ happens.

When I tried to put the steel tube thru there most of the small rods came out the other side. How do I replace this? (By the way, I think its called a needle bearing, not sure) I tried to whack it out with a socket but its not budging. Is it pressed in?

Thanks for any help!

I cant help you much...but I need to pull my shock out to put the stock spring back in..so I'm going to watch this thread...might save me some grief!

I sent my Vector shock to the same place and didn't have any problems with it. Next time I would slide the steel rod in the hole and zip tie it in. That would protect that bearing. But....I don't know if they need the holes open to work on the shock.

Come on! Someone tell me how to get that out!!!

Just use grease to hold NEEDLES in place and insert the steel bushing back in, make sure to have all of the needle bearings.

I tried all that you guys mentioned.

The shock came in a box with packing peanuts and was wrapped in a foam type material. First thing I noticed when unwrapping was little brown things. No idea what they were. They were the inside of the bearing. About 10 little needles also were rolling around in the foam type material. Also found about 6 more needles at the bottom of the box. I at first tried to replace the needles back in but the material that goes between them was mangled. When I put the metal spacer in there, that mangled them more. Nothing wrong with any of the oil seals on both sides. I'm sure I was missing needles also. I have no idea what happened at shop or if it happened during transit. Not worth arguing about.

Another $30.00 bucks....... :o|

That probably happended during shipping. If the steel bushing is not in there there is nothing holding the needles in and they will fall out. Live and learn I guess.

It is possibly a common needle bearing you can get from a local bearing dealer. Can you read any numbers with a magnifying glass? On many of them there is a tiny plastic cage that holds the tiny rollers in. That must have broken

Next time you ship your shock for service make sure to use a TIE WRAP to hold bushings in place on both ends...

Like Tork said, time to call your dealer for a new roller bearing.

$40.00. 4 new oil seals and 2 bearings. Dealer had to press them out.

Note to self: Zip tie bushing in there next time!!

Thanks for replies!
