I have to agree with this. If yammi would concentrate on handling and rideability, with that great engine they'd have a great sled, the Nytro is just not quite there. It handles poorly, trenches like a big dog, and weighs a ton.
EDITED by Sled Dog
The price sounds decent, I picked up a 08 with 560 miles on it for $5800 last year. Luckydawg pretty much nailed it on the 08:
The Maverick track is terrible, the paddles tend to fold over
The rear suspension is poor in design, trenches easily and doesn't transfer power very well
The...
Believe it or not I found some snow like that in the Bighorns today. Didn't have the sun like you did though, it was flat and snowing!
How the new Cat treating you?
Good natured face to face ribbing is always to be expected, but the back stabbing, and enjoying other's misfortune that goes on in all of these forums AC, Doo, Poo, here, is silly, and maybe a little disturbing. When I say fanboys, I mean everyone riding a snowmobile. There seems to be an...
Cool. I didn't know Skinz made an AC bumper. Looks like a nice ride. Can't believe they wouldn't leave this in the MT forum, or at least left the original there with a "moved" tag and link to here. I had to look up mtdream to find this post again. Anyway I'll say it again, Nice Ride!
As a former Yamaha owner, I would have ignored this post...As an new AC owner (2011), so far my M8 has made everything I do easier to do over my Nytro.
Doesn't make me smile. Wouldn't make me smile if Yamaha had problems and I were in the AC forums. This sport has some of the biggest fanboys...
Does it have to be in Alaska? I could bring it up to Fairbanks in April. I have one I replaced with a Skinz bumper, the only problem is that it's a little tweaked, the previous owner tried to pull the sled out with it and bent it a bit. I can send pix if your interested.
You guys got it, completely missed us here to the south of you (Bighorns). Hope we get some soon. Bear Lodge says 6" Snotel says maybe 3". Rode up just north of the wilderness, icy, thin, lot's of rocks showing, crusty, windblown, many many tracks.
Here's another film to watch.

The link is to a site called Terra, the film is "A Dozen More Turns", just type that into the search box. The film is a fairly long compelling documentary in three parts. It's about some friends who...
I've been worried about the way the snowpack developed this year. I've been digging a little in the Bighorns and there is nothing but ball bearings down below. Early season snows with lots of sun on them before more fell.
Several in my group haven't got a clue and delude themselves into...
I always respected your comments on that other forum Lund, I think it was Doo Talk. I felt your comments were vilified just because you had good things to say about Yamaha, and didn't bleed yellow. I probably misconstrued your comments somewhat here, and I apologize. But I (and probably...
What I am getting here is that you say it takes a VERY special skill set to be able to handle a Nytro, I am also getting that through years of experience you have that special skill set. I appreciate and respect that. I think the years of experience are the key here, those years make it possible...
I thought that I'd probably want to mod anything I had too, and that's how I justified the thought of spending the $9+K on my Yamaha. I mean, I'd better LOVE the sled because that's just a little less cash than I bought a brand new holdover M8 for! I also know now I'll be tweaking the AC as...
Another post from a former Yamaha rider. I am still pretty newbie to this sport. I am still learning to ride and have owned or own 3 different sleds from three different manufactures in my short time in this sport. If your heart is set on a Yamaha, then go for it, my Yamaha was more than...
Last year after being frustrated with the amount of maintenance I was doing on my first sled (2002 Ski Doo Summit Highmark X 151), I impulse bought a 2008 Yamaha FX Nytro MTX 153.
I was given crap, grief, lectures, superiority theories, 2 stroke/4 stroke non-sense, etc etc. I actually liked...
