This will make u smile...arctic cat...lol

Its a first year sled give them a break. If anything we should thank these guys for setting a example of what happens when a manufacturer makes a major design change.AC sold every one it made, couldnt keep up with demand for accessories, stock went through roof and made alot of $.Yes there is inexcusable issues but all those guys knew there would be or should have and still paid the $.I dont know why but I dont believe any 1st year chassis has been perfect. Some first for Yamaha to think about.

98 SRX=crank
RX1=Dont remeber but buddy traded his in on first trip out for a viper and lost $
07 Phazer=read the posts
Nytro=Subframes,wet foot

Nobody is perfect even Yamaha. Its what they do to correct it that matters.Yamaha stepped up and I hope for those guys AC does also.Seems they are.

I agree, first year sleds can have big issues. Lots of guys purposely don't buy first year models, rather they wait until the second or third years ones.

Is true and then usually the price is raised. Most of us snowmobilers just cant resist the new and better even though we know what we are in for.If you want something bad enough the $ will be found within reason.Wish the manufacturers all would realize that and be more aggressive with new machines. Its got to be frustrating for R&D.So many compromises and hoops to jump through.

As a former Yamaha owner, I would have ignored this post...As an new AC owner (2011), so far my M8 has made everything I do easier to do over my Nytro.

Doesn't make me smile. Wouldn't make me smile if Yamaha had problems and I were in the AC forums. This sport has some of the biggest fanboys I have ever seen. Why does everyone get off on other peoples misfortune?

I feel bad for all of the new AC owners out there. Maybe AC rushed this sled to production too soon. Give them a season or two, this thing has the potential to be an amazing sled. Cat'll make it right.

My Yamaha was better quality in every way. I still say Yamaha has the best quality, fit, and finish. My AC blows it away in handling, stock horsepower, power transfer, track (how're those power claws working out for everyone?), and weight. To "fix" those issues on my Nytro would have cost me more than my new M8 did using the Nytro in trade.

Fan boys??? LOL...."Give them a season or two"??? "COME ON MAN"!!! I didn't see cat or DOO guys giving nytro owners any slack. NOBODY IS GETTING OFF ON ANYBODY'S MISFORTUNE!!! The so called "fanboy" stuff has always gone on in snowmobiling..I remember it back in the early 70's...My dad and his buddies always teased each other about their "ugly Junk"..but it was good natured, and always fun. My dad of course had yamahas, and had alot of fun with his buddies when they pulled into a gas station, and they had to mix oil and gas...while he just topped off his oil tank, and topped off his gas tank...he always had to wait while his friends mixed their oil and gas...lol My dad had sno jets (yes I know they were pre mix) and yamahas..his buddies rode scorpions, cats, skiroules, and rupps.

I have owned all 4 brands..most recently cat and ski-doo. My last cat was a crossfire 600...it was an excellent midwest powder sled...but I was constantly tightening bolts, and nuts...The ride and handling was very good...Cat calibrates their suspensions very well...Unfortunately, they use cheap shocks, and their fit and finish is poor...the thing drank gas and oil (10 to 11 mpg)...vibrated, and smoked....my buddy has a jag z1...his second one, since the first one started on fire...yeah cat replaced it...but it scared the crap outta him...he is such a loyal cat guy, he bought that 1100 four stroke, even after his 03 firecat blew up 4 times...4 TIMES!!!

So it seems to me that cat continues to have problems, and these recent issue are embarrassing to them. However, The reason I posted this here was the number of people who were spouting off about yamaha right after the 2012 models were released last winter...remember the "I'M GOING TO CAT" posts. The grass isn't always greener is it??

Say what you want about yamahas....I am a trail rider, and IMO, yamaha produces a well built, reliable machine...the mono skid is not my favorite thing right now...lol But for what I want out of a machine, it's close to perfect.

I too would buy a cat if I was a mountain/powder rider..yes...even with all their troubles.

Yamaha's biggest black eye IMO is the nytro...it simply wasn't ready..I think the motor is awesome..but the rest of it was poorly designed...when ever I ride my buddies RTX, I can't wait to get back on my attak.
I FEEL for you powder riders...but think you're knuckleheads too...Why ride something you hate?? Unless you run a BOOSTED yamaha...you are not gonna like it in powder...just the way it is...I'd buy something that fits my riding style (insert brand here)...for me it's yamaha.

IMO Cat seems to do this every 5 years (put something out that isn't ready)...think 08 800....03 firecat...and 1998 thundercat.
Which for an ex cat rider is frustrating...the new sleds look HOT...but nothing ever changes with cat...still shoddy.

My attak has 12,200 miles on it...and until this week (cracked front arm on skid), have had ZERO problems..until I see cats consistantly with 10,000 plus miles on them, with No major problems...I'll be on a yamaha!!
CAN I KEEP MY BLUE GOGGLES ON?? LOL

Il keep my blue goggles on... After owning evry brand out there i realized if i want to ride a sled and not work on a sled is to buy blue! As far as im concerned the other 3 mfg r not even on the same page in product Qualaty.... If they look cheap they most likly r made cheap... The naked eye dont lie! ;)! :yam: :4STroke: :rocks: :jump:

We towed a XF1100 out of the woods on Friday night. Ball joint let go at 40mph ( pic available) ,,, luckily he stopped the sled before shooting out into the trees. Imagine what could have happened at 110mph ,,,,, scary !!

I'm so dissapointed in these new cats . The first week of Jan I sold my Renegade with the intention of buying a XF800 SP for a second sled. I dearly love my XTX and will keep it for a long time , but , 30%+ of my riding is NOT Apex friendly. I buried it like a lawn dart in 5ft of fresh snow on Sat, by myself , way off the beaten path , with a stump jammed into the belly pan. 2 hrs and a heart attack later , I got it out. I'm 190lbs and not in bad shape, this fkn thing is like trying to move a beached whale when it gets stuck . I want a lighter sled for those days when the snow is deep and I'm feeling adventourous LOL. I hope AC can survive this defeat and fix all the issues for 2013,, if not I don't know what i'll buy to fill that void . The new cats looked and sounded like the perfect setup to me (on paper) . Unfortunatly , real world results are proving otherwise so, I didn't pull the trigger. Now my wife is pissed because were down to one sled :(

I had a chance to ride the xf800sp a couple weeks ago, along with the 2012 Poo SB800 . It handles trail junk like a YZ250 , throttle response is instant, turns on a dime and pulls like a raped ape up to 90mph. I loved it !!! He's already having clutch issues , severe ice build up and he won't put any weight on that rear tunnel section. It's too bad they didn't address all this #*$&@ when it showed up on the demo sleds. It's still the best handling Cat I've ever sat on so I'm not giving up hope on AC just yet. The Turbo is 100lb heavier and has so many problems it's not worth a second look imo, at least until 2013 .

Just my .02c :)

I have also owned all 4 major brands, and I won't be leaving Yamaha Anytime soon.
It has been proven that I have the most reliable sled out of all my friends, With my 07-Apex-MTN.

Im not here to bash AC, but im not that impressed from what I have seen in the mountains, I expected alot more from these sleds.

All I have to say is were all on this site for the same reason, Yamaha is #1 in reliability.
and Ill take reliability over, Top speed, light-weight, chasis design or a free turbo upgrade anyday.

having a super tricked out sled dosent mean anything if you cant ride deep into the backountry and make it home without any serious issues.

Thats just my opinion.

CAN I KEEP MY BLUE GOGGLES ON?? LOL

Good natured face to face ribbing is always to be expected, but the back stabbing, and enjoying other's misfortune that goes on in all of these forums AC, Doo, Poo, here, is silly, and maybe a little disturbing. When I say fanboys, I mean everyone riding a snowmobile. There seems to be an incredible insecure need to justify their purchases and defend their brand (not machine) to the death despited it's warts. And uh, in the 70s Yamahas were all two strokes too...They intro'ed the 4 stroke in 2003, with AC beating them to it with a 4 stroke in 2000 designed for Yellowstone.

I do ride mountains, the Nytro in stock form was just not ready for prime time. You stick a Nytro in the deep and every one of those extra pounds comes back to let you know ITS HEAVY. If the Nytro was lighter and handled better, I'd be all over it for the reliability. It's just not there, and costs a pretty penny to get it there (boost, track just for starters, then you can add Skinz front end, and skid).

I agreed with you casa....i dont powder ride anymore...i ride a few ditches, logging roads, and a few lakes...otherwise its 90 percent trails....my attak has a few extras, but is perfect for what I do...in fact..truth be told..it has way more power than I need...but its nice to know I have it when I need it.
I have never owned a stock sled, in my 30 yrs of riding that pulls this hard past 70 mph...its a total rush!!! All of my friends that have ridden it have been shocked at how hard this thing pulls..they love it
..its addicting.
That being said..it doesnt handle the best nor ride the best...not bad..but not even close to a cat.
My only wish is for yamaha to learn how to calibrate shocks better...its their biggest downfall...i have never understood why yamaha uses great shocks like ohlins, and sets them up to ride like they are filled with cement.

Give me a Cat with a yamaha motor, (sorry dont like suzuki) ohlin shocks (set to cat specs), with yamahas fit and finish...and that would be my sled.
Until then...my next sled will be a vector ltx with eps, with some suspension upgrades (revalve, different springs)

Btw casa....i wanted to say "lighten up francis"...j/k..lol
Seriously...the internet "fanboy" stuff is no different
than the ford, chevy, dodge people..lol
But..it doesnt bother me...i drive a buick made in canada..lol

Its old news. It pertains to a steering joint that MAY not have been installed correctly from the factory, there are no parts being recalled, just a dealer inspection of the bolt and fix as needed. Mine was fine, it took me 5 minutes to check out. No different then Nytro a-arm bolts coming loose because of a defective thread.

those cats are in trouble for more than just that...went to my avy course in gaspesie and 3 of the new cats wouldnt start..after playing with the kill switch..one started..put the famous yamaha dryer on the other 2 and they start..the 2010 snow-pro started..something with the switch..this is why when I kill my sled its with the key at the end of the day...good yammie habit I guess...lol..

one cat blew up at 350ks and another one lost a bolt on the table..lol..my buddy has 4 of these mountain cats...hes not happy..he cant wait to give them back to the dealer at the end of the year..they are rentals..
