I spend most of my time over on The 2 stroke side so this is my first post over here. I found a nytro for 5600 dollars its all stock good condition and has 1400 miles on it. Just wondering am I getting a good deal? Were there any issues with that year?

Anything you can tell me about it would be great.

Hey Viper,

Welcome to the blue side. That price sounds reasonable. Look for a bent sub-frame. The 08's had some sub-frame issues that were stiffened in the 09's and up. If it's not bent you can add stiffeners.

I paid 7K for my 09 a year ago and put a lot of money into it to ride a bit more to my liking. :bling

The Camoplast stock track is junk. (Challenger Extreme, Power Claw or Mt. Ascent)

The suspension is very heavy and trenches. I love my Timbersled. the newer ones you can adjust easy for different riding conditions.

The a-arms are built solid and heavy but two kits (z-bros and skinz) spread the weight of the motor forward and greatly improve the handling.

I ride with a buddy that has a 2012 Pro-Rmk and I would not trade. It handles like a dream out of the box but I really like my set-up now. I've spent as much as he though and with boost, I'll be above his Pro price but I am planning on keeping it for a while.

You'll love the torque.

The price sounds decent, I picked up a 08 with 560 miles on it for $5800 last year. Luckydawg pretty much nailed it on the 08:

The Maverick track is terrible, the paddles tend to fold over

The rear suspension is poor in design, trenches easily and doesn't transfer power very well

The front end handling is pretty bad

The running boards are wide and ungainly and hold snow

It's heavy, it weighs a lot, and it's not light either. You may think this isn't too much to worry about, but if you are riding in the mountains in deep snow it makes a difference, a huge heavy difference.

The Genesis engine is bombproof, it's a great engine, gets good gas mileage, and is OK in power. It fits into the 600cc two stroke classes, so a little underpowered compared to the top mountain two strokes. Boost is the way to go with this sled. Yamaha is built well and very reliable, but I find that a slim peg to hang your hat on. The 08 Nytros seem to be the most problematic and need more help than newer models. Yamaha has been tweaking things and making the sled better and better. This year they've even offered a semi-factory boost.

I ended up trading my Nytro. I was looking at putting a lot of money into it to get it where I wanted. The sled I traded it for was brand new with warranty and already where I wanted it. I was looking at nearly $9K into the Nytro, I traded it and half the cash to get a brand new two stroker. So far I am happy with my decision. If Yamaha comes out with a factory 4 stroke boosted sled that handles like my current sled does and weighs close, I'll be back to blue.
