Hi Ted. Unfortunatly I still need that full time job to keep playing. I'm just lucky I have an understanding wife that lets me do all this stuff. Hopefully this will become more of a family deal this summer. The kids are growing up far to fast and I don't want to miss any more than I have to. I...
I'll be working on belt life and consistency in the RX1 dragster. Probably slow it up to 8.30's or so and leave the boost alone. That’s REALLY hard to do. At least then we can spend some time in the clutches. Adding water / methanol injection, which we should have done a long time ago. I'm just...
I really wanted to run a TRA on the car and had planned to build a new stub shaft to accept the larger taper. Other issues kept me busy, so I never got to it. We run a 6 post Micro Belmont now, but I still wonder what a TRA would have worked like. In my opinion they clamp the belt better that...
We've done it as well and it works very well. Ours has steel liners and is way stiffer than to open deck. One Stop Jim's deck closure method and price looks like a great deal. Let me tell you that ours cost a LOT more
Tom
We had the same problems with the wiseco pins. We did in 8 bushings in our carrillos as well. When the pin tightens because they are going out of round, it causes the piston to rock really hard. If this is your issue, just about guaranteed that you will find the skirts collapsed due to this...
A leak down test would be first thing. Check to see if valve clearance has opened up on any valves, or really tightened up. If loose you may have a bent valve, if tight you may have popped a shim out of the retainer and it could be sitting on top it.
Good luck
Ouch!! Well now you know. With the amount of time it idled trying to get oil pressure, I would pull it right down and go through everything. It may be fine, but it wasn't your mistake. Much cheaper for them to go right though it, compared to what a KABOOM would cost them. Good Luck
Falicon Rods? 9:1 JE Pistons? Is the crank a rebalanced stock stroke? Hard to see, but the side by the filet radius on the rod journal looks about the width of a stocker. The 64mm stroker I had here looked wider after the journal was moved outward. So what are all those shiny parts ?? Lookin...
Is there a chance that the snap ring that holds the water pump shaft in the bearing has slipped back allowing the shaft to move deeper into the water pump? That would allow the waterpump to turn but wouldn't make the shaft engage the oil pump. If the oil pump drive wasn't lined up when the...
We got a set recently and had no problems getting them. John is a great guy to talk to for piston technical questions. He's up near the top of the food chain on turbo's as well. Google John Noonan and see what he does for fun. He's really Faaaasssstt. Up to 35# I would use either the JE's or...
Do you have any information on the system they are using? We've thought about going to injected methanol but we had some other issues to take care of first. Everything seems to be worked out now, so it must be time to complicate it again.
Thanks
When you had the motor out did you remove the water pump from the case. If you did, did you line the lower sprocket up with the water pump / oilpump drive? Is it possible that either the chain is off the sprocket teeth on either the stub shaft or the pump drive sprocket? Could the drive shaft...
Well Jim, I own you thanks for your efforts in making the MSD work on these motors :flag: . Like I said "I don't think we would have progressed as far as we have without it." As for the turbo stuff, if we were all doing the same thing it would be boring. It's boost, and it's all good. ;)!
The nice thing here is we can agree to disagree . We tested as well and the 28RS with the .86 was easily faster than the .64 "on the sled it was on". With the car, we have always used n20 to spool so spoolup has never been a concern for us. On the car we went from 20# to 25# and went from...
