anyone run EFI system on a rx1 motor. just curious ! that would be a great add on ...

The yamaha build shop that I do business with here (Gagné-Lessard in coaticook, QC) has done a few and they seems to run well... fully adjustable just like any aftermarket efi system.

I plan on doing this mod to my rx1 probably next year because as much as I like this sled, I hate the fact that it flood eeach and every time I tilt it too much of flip it... Then its a pita to get out of the hole because it will run poorly for the next 5 minutes or so.

should give Gilles a call at (819) 849-4849

I don't have the system on mine yet so sorry not much details and stuff I think I know I better like not to induce you in error, so give him a call.

Do you have any information on the system they are using? We've thought about going to injected methanol but we had some other issues to take care of first. Everything seems to be worked out now, so it must be time to complicate it again.
Thanks

I can help you Tom, I do many EFI conversions and Stock Everything needed to do it.

have you done any RX1s TED ?

i am setting up direct deposit with work maybe i should just give them your account ted HAHA ;)!

Not Yet, but it is exactly the same as other conversions, and I already know what the motors want for fuel and timing curves so it is a Snap!

The questions comes down to how bad you want or need fuel injection because it is very expensive to convert, you need the following.

High pressure fuel system consisting of a 255 LPH pump that can run up to 80 PSI,
Aluminum fuel rail, and related fittings,
Boost referanced return style fuel pressure Reglulator with a range from 40 to 100 psi.
A computer system that can do both fuel and timing.
A 3 bar map sensor for up to 30 psi boost,
An air intake temp sensor
A Water temp sensor,
Throttle bodies that have a TPS sensor.
Wire harness
An MSD ignition system.
And a Charging system that can support all the extra electrical devices.

Realistacally your looking at around 5500.00 in parts alone then you need someone like myself to tune it and train you on the computer.

There are cheaper computers out there but the old saying still applies, You Get What You Pay For.

What you save on the computer you will spend on blown up engine parts.

I ran a mega squirt on a couple, have the dyno sheets to prove it somewhere. Might give it a try again this year.works well but not realistic to 99.9 percent of people because nothing is plug and play.I can say the rx1 motor is very tough and took a lot of abuse and testing that I threw at it.I came up with a very slick way to install the injectors in the existing carbs.I do have a very nice direct port style manifold I made if someone would be interested to play with.Wouldnt think it should cost all that much to play with.Extruded fuel rail on ebay, mega squirt ebay, fuel pump anywhere, fuel injectors anywhere, fuel return already there on factory tank, electronic timing not needed to change unless you are really serious about racing and not the bobble when doing wheelies.Ive tried it on lightning pro 2 big inj pre turbo, cpr 4 inj. post turbo, and alpine 4 big inj. 26psi boost. The factory(yamaha) spends more time than you can imagine to have a bullet proof ecu and injection which is much easier to fake some parameters to increase fuel and much less to go wrong.

Very interesting!!!

Must be much cheaper than using a complete system....

I want more details on this please!

Unless you are very Computer savy, and have tons of free time, you should not mess with Megasquirt.

I tune them and I hate they're software.

DOS comes to mind :o|

Whoa I guess I'm OUT. Do not have the time in season to mess with that thing. I was thinking something OEM based from a apex or something.

That is definately doable if you have a doner sled, you will the cam sensor input only found on the Apex motor, plus the harness computer gauge and such.
