What I do with my 07 vector is much easier. Open the hood and in front of the left foot well connected to the top of the frame tubing is a clear hose. It's the breather hose for the gas tank. I take a pliers to squeeze the hose clamp and pop that line off, then stick my compressor sprayer into...
I'm 57. My Dad bought a brand new '72 SL338 Yamaha for us to drive when I was a sophomore in HS. I've owned all of the big 4 brands but here I am on a Yamaha again.
I assume you need an Ontario trail pass if you cross over. Is there a cheap 1 day pass you can get if you cross over for a few hours? We ride up in the Boundary Waters a few times but have never rode up into Canada.
I've done the UP several times, but only from the Keweenaw Peninsula west. We found riding between Houghton and Copper Harbor by far the best. Some parts by the Porkypine Mountain area specifically the Lake of the Clouds is pretty cool. The Lake Gogobic/Watersmeet area is nice too but stay away...
I have an older 440 Cat that they all started out on except the 33 year old, he started out on an Excell III. Most of them prefered the smaller sled, after I had them try the full size one. They just thought the "big one" was too tiring to turn until they were 16 or 17.
PS I thought "with an...
I have 3 boys (now ages 23-33) and a 17 year old daughter. I only let them drive a sled in the yard until they got their Snowmobile Safety Certificates. I don't think it's legal (in Wisconsin anyway) for someone without a drivers license to operate a sled on the state trails without one, unless...
This should be an easy question. I got the front shocks rebuilt last fall and am thinking of doing the rear now. Can I remove the rear shock without removing the skid? Can I just take all the tension off and remove the 2 bolts and remote adjuster and out she comes? I'm sure plenty of you guys...
I've had my 2007 RS Vector GT for 3 seasons and I've hit 101 MPH on the dream meter once and 100 a couple other times. This year I've "only" gone 98 MPH. Bummer. I think in perfect conditions it might do close to 105 MPH. It get's up to 80-85 MPH real fast which is ideal for me.
Did you take all the tension off by jacking the front end up before you tried to turn the adjuster? I removed my front shocks this fall to have them rebuilt and the adjusters were stuck petty good. I think I had to tap one of them with a chisel to get it to move. This was done on my work bench...
The belt on my 07 RS Vector GT exploded at around 4500 miles. I had just taken it up to 100 mph twice. On the 2nd time I could smell burning belt so I slowed down to around 50 and BANG! The belt was in a 1000 pieces. I dug as much belt shreds out as I could and put the spare on. I had to take...
So 4strokelover, did you check compression? The reason I'm asking is my 07 Vector GT does the same thing. That little miss about every 20 seconds or so. Seems to run fine otherwise. I only have 5700 miles on it. I have 2 strokes that have more miles than that, that don't need any engine work yet.
I use the wife's nail polish remover. Something with acetone like paint thinner will work. Just don't get it on any plastic, like your windshield or headlight, etc. It works fine on the hood.
No problem, 1973. Believe me, I worry a lot about bad gas. I treat my last tank and start it up every 4 to 6 weeks in the off season. BTW, the gas line shut offs are a great idea. They should be standard equipment.
I guess I took the highlighted text from 1234 to mean they constantly clean the carbs "early"and ran Sea Foam at the end of the season for 3 years running, and it still does it.
Do any of you out there with a Nytro seem to constantly have to clean the carburetors early? My dad's sled seems...
It sounds like your dad's sled is not getting fully warmed up. My Vector acts just like that if I try to take off right away when the cold light shuts off. I typically need to let it warm up another 2 to 5 minutes after the light shuts off and sometimes give it a little choke for the 1st mile...
I didn't notice any difference when I changed my Vector track to an AC quiet track. I only ended up with about 200 for all of last season so I didn't get a lot of seat time. It was such a good deal ($340 US for the AC Quiet or $360 for the exact replacement at Tracks USA) that I don't care if...
