Mine was the same way. The hose was routed aft of a bundle of wires that made it very hard to positon the airbox without kinking the hose. Just re-route the hose in front of those wires and no more issues.
I agree.
Keep the RPM's up (7000) and the bars get pretty much as hot as my wife's vector. Had the thumbwarmer on low initially...turned it up after the bars got hot.
No foam. No gauntlets. Shorty windshield.
I bought a set of Snow Trackers last winter. They completely cured my darting and I was very happy with the sled's handling. I've got about 1000km on them and they held up well.
Haven't had a chance to try them yet this year...NOT ENOUGH SNOW...
Just one guys opinion,
I've only got 300 miles on them. They still look brand new, but then, I was riding in excellent snow conditions.
The kit does both skis and cost me $180 Canadian.
A note about shimming...
I shimmed my sled when new. Seemed to help but the darting got worse over time.
I removed the ski's at 2000 miles to install these www.snowtracker.com
and noticed that my shims had "mashed" themselves into the ski rubbers to the point where they pretty much...
My Apex darted fairly badly, even after shimming and checking the alignment. So did the wife's Vector. I put Dooly's on the Vector and she loves them.
As for the Apex, my local dealer recommended these....

I was skeptical...but damn..they work well!!
Totally...
I used a bolt, washers and nut to fasten the strap to the top edge of the snow flap.
The bolt I used was one of the bolts that gets removed when you install the skidplate...
That is what I was told today...
It locks the threaded body to the top of the shock.
If you loosen it, bad stuff can happen....!!!
I don't know why they didn't use two of the aluminum nuts on the top of the spring because that thin black steel nut is hard to get the wrench on...
I've had the OPP pick at the corners of my pass to ensure that it was stuck directly on to my sled....sheeeesh!
Better safe than sorry...
Now...where the F#@K is the SNOW!!
One more thing... for the folks near Toronto... I went by Markham Mower today (a Yamaha Dealer). Even though...
This is from the Yamaha Canada website:
"An exclusive Yamaha design, this 0.25" thick HDPE skid plate offers excellent protection for the belly pan and bulkhead and great looks. Mounting hardware allows for quick, easy removal of plate.
Replacement mounting hardware is available...
Yamaha doesn't supply a tool to open the secondary, but they are available from Maxximum Performance for $39.95...

Works well.

If you have access to a 2nd wrench, hold them together (to essentally make the wrench twice as wide). That will give you much better "bite" on the lock-nut...
GT Dave
It makes the job easier.
It holds the secondary open for easy cleaning.
My friend went from a REV which has this type of opener as standard equipment to an APEX and I knew she'd want one on her new Yamaha.

I bought a pair for our Apex and Vector. Simple to install. Works very well.
WARNING FOR CANADIAN BUYERS.... Get them to ship using the post office (USPS) rather than UPS. UPS charged me a $60 brokerage fee which pretty much doubled the price!! :moon:
