    16 srviper ltx-dx

I have a '15 LTX DX, think they're the same. I'm 260 dressed and ride aggressively also. 6" carbide inside, 4" outside, 144 studs, front shock spring sloppy + 2 turns, spring block on #2, transfer blocks also on #2. Now. This things handled like its on rail in most conditions BUT, would bottom...

    Battery not charging

They found the problem.... Broken starter gear dropped some teeth into bottom end, got pinched in stator and buggered it up pretty good. Not sure what happened first as I only heads starter kick back once when battery was low already. Yamaha is looking after all of it. They have to pull my pan...

    Battery not charging

I would assume they checked all that at the dealer when it was there last. Hope they can figure it out and quick...

    Battery not charging

Has anyone had issues with their battery not charging? Was on a trip couple of weeks ago, battery wouldn't start sled, was really cold -24*C, figured that was the issue. Still under warranty , so I took it to dealer, battery tested OK but so did charging system. Bought new battery, back up north...

    Cats getting it as well

Sure maybe they are taking our shiny new motor as well but I'm betting we wouldn't have that shiny new chassis either. Can't have it both ways.... Just sayin...

    RTX DX suspension

How much do you weigh dressed? What is your rear spring set at? I'm 260 dressed and am at the #2 pos on spring. Its borderline too light bit #3 is way too much.

    RTX DX suspension

So when you mean 2" of suspension, is it harsh or bottoming out? That is mostly set by the main spring in the back. Transfer blocks determine mostly how the sled will "wheelie" under acceleration. More wheelie, more traction but lose steering - conversely, less wheelie, more steering but less...

    Tri-Hub Failure

Good friend is a Cat mechanic, said def should be done by 3000 miles or asking for trouble. Stock ones have an irreplaceable bearing, new ones are replaceable so once you've changed it out once, I'm guessing it should almost be an annually.

    New 2017 Yamaha Sleds...

I heard from a Cat dealer last week that the rumor he heard from insiders was this.... Viper like chassis, Apex motor making more power than current turbo. But.. Pushing 20 g's Canadian. Less than a week and we'll know for sure..

Riden hard and put away wet!!!

Hey yamamarc, do you have any information on the C trail to timmins? I hear there is a bridge the ministry is building but is behind schedule. Leaving the moonlight on 17 in a couple weeks to do the abitibi canyon tour-without that trail, it ain't happinen...

    Heated Seat Accessory

Only issue I found with mine was it took away from the bar and thumb warmer. I have a tough time with cold hands (I've tried every glove under the sun) and when you'd think you'd want to use the heated seat, its usually f#+&@# cold out. I'm starting to use the bar bags more to help but find they...

How much oil does a 2016 viper take?

    7000 Clutching that good??

I eat em all day long! Lol. I'm 6' 3" tall so I'm not terribly bulgy just a little soft...I vet laughed from the boys for ordering greens instead of fries on the trail. They'll figure it out some day....

    7000 Clutching that good??

Was north with some buds last weekend. I have a '15 LTX DX, COTC w 8DN, and air box mod, and studded, about 2600 miles now. Realistically I'm 260 fully dressed. 2 of my buds have '15 XF 7000's which is exactly the same as mine except for shocks and clutches and no studs. They have 500 miles on...

    Clutching on the cheap

Nailed it boys! 4.5's in the tip, 2.44's in the middle, 4 shims, worked excellent! Now able to hold er on the bar- 96 mph on questionable snow (loose) running 8900 rpm. Recall at 9150 (lost traction over a hump). Didn't like fresh snow though, logging roads with prob 3-4" of the loose white gold...

    Clutching on the cheap

Is that not what they mean by "shimming the helix?" To prevent coil bind? I have three .060" washer s under the posts and seems to be fine after 2200 miles.

    Clutching on the cheap

When I was first having issues with over revving, I started pulling them out to try and get rpm's down (same weight less spring force) It helped but not enough. Now I'm back up to 4 and trying to keep em down. Like I stated in an earlier post, 4.5's in the tip, 2.44's in the middle, GWG with 4...
