    oilite bushing

forget the oilolite... get bronze. If you doing the bulkhead go 2 steps further. Do the A-Arms and spend 10 buck on some ss grease fittings and a tap. Drill holes near each of these fittings so you can service them with grease. Not difficult at all.

    2006 Apex Steering Headaches

As I posted I already got all 3 of these billet aluminum bushings for the steering rod... they are high quality and work really well but need to be drilled out for a grease fitting. They eliminate most of your problem... My problem goes deeper. More bushings down in the pan that connect...

    2006 Apex Steering Headaches

Hey Fellas... just wondering how many of you are having problems with having to replace steering bushing (continually) in this machine. This is the second time I am doing it!!!! just frustrated with the crap plastic bushings. I did buy the billet alum collars with bronze bushings for the...

    Loose steering

I replaced three ball joints in the steering linkage area. Tightening them did nothing for me. After removal I found there was some play. There should be absolutely zero play in a ball joint. More importantly I found the plastic bushings in the steering stem to be worn out too. These are...

Why should I replace the front end bushings?

I would definately change them.... while you have your sled half torn apart make sure you change the upper an lower bushing in the ski spindals. I would also definately recommend changing the bushings in the steering column (3 pairs total). Lastly drop the rear skid and change those too. All...

Yamaha Rules..but sure could use some help on good bushings

~!! I really feel like a dirtbag for posting a negative forum.... I want to apologize again for getting on a bunch of nerves. I have been a motorsport enthusiast all my life. Snowmobiles, Motocross Racing, Jet Skiing, and Steetbike riding are all hobbies that I have been fortunate enought...

Yamaha Rules..but sure could use some help on good bushings

All right..... Maybe part of me is just venting but I really think it is a b.s. design! The rest of the sled seems to be very well engineered and works great. But 24 plastic bushings....c'mon. Why not brass like the bushings in the Yamaha street bikes and dirt bikes? You guys that think I am...

Yamaha Rules..but sure could use some help on good bushings

I posted a forum just last week about having sloppy steering and excessive freeplay in the sleering..... just wanted to post my DISGUST after completely disassembling my 06 apex GT. I can't believe the amount of PLASTIC bushings that are in the front end of this machine!! 150 horsepower...

    Sloppy Steering / Excessive Freeplay

Thanks for the feedback. I will comprise a parts list tomorrow after I finish tearing my sled apart. My understanding is that a ball joint should have "NO Play" in is whatsoever..... mine all have a slight chatter, so I will definately be changing these too, in addition to all the bushings...

    Sloppy Steering / Excessive Freeplay

Well I finally got to tear apart the front end of my Apex. I found excessive wear on just about all the bushings in the whole front end. I am definately suprised to see all these parts with so much wear with just 3200 miles. Makes be wonder about the wear and tear in the rear skid. I think...

    Pressure wash engine??

I would be very carefull with the pressure washer. I USED to pressure wash everything..... tired of replacing bearings because I blew water into the oil seals! I will not make this mistake again. Oil seals, orings, and gaskets are somewhat delicate..... good luck

    Sloppy Steering / Excessive Freeplay

I agree that once you have things set up (including the "toe") that The Simmons skis have zero darting. I have had about 3000 awesome miles with no darting complaints and things dramatically changed over the last 200 miles. I noticed significant freeplay in the steering and slop in the skis...

    Sloppy Steering / Excessive Freeplay

I have an 06 Apex Gt with just over 3000 miles on it. I have been really happy with the sled in every way. I just came back from a trip today in Maine and had some serious issues with darting and sloppy play in the steering. When the sled was new I had darting issues like everyone else. I...

    Ohlins Spanner Wrench

I got to ride my GT for the first time since having Pioneer re-valve my rear shock. Definately seems stiffer (I also upgraded to the heavier spring) I am having difficulty loosening the collars on the shock to adjust the preload. The stock wrench that Yamaha gives you in the tool kit kind of...

    rox riser, throttle cable issues

I also put on the 3-5 rox riser. After finishing the installation, with the bars highest position - the cable was definately too tight. My trick was to carefully cut a groove thru the foam hadlebar pad which gave it atleast about 1/2" to 1" of relief. Also clipped two of the zip ties to...

cost to re valve mono shock

All you guys saying to have Pioneer Revalve.... are you talking about front and rear shock??? My Ohlins rear ended up blowing apart the end of last season (real bad). Yamaha agreed to cover the cost of the new parts which was all rebuilt by Pioneer in NY. They did revalve it to my weight and...

    any must upgrades

Simmons flex ski's with dual carbides are awesome and you can't beat the Rox Riser. Seems like a lot of guys (almost everone) on this site has had some handling issues, including myself. The best advice that I can give is to take your machine out by yourself with your spanner wrench and start...
