Put the shock to its lowest setting. compress the spring(i have used cargo straps not the safetest or smartest thing cause they will slip) there is a clip that holds the spring seat inplace remove clip, seat and uncompress the spring. the spring is now free as a bird this is how i have done...

Yeah I came here from alaska there I had no problem with the battery where I live it is only about a 1-2 hour drive and we did that in alaska most of the time
