Did the 04 rx1's have the ring issue that caused the oil burning or was it just the 03's
I think both your dealers are blowing smoke up your you know where. I have to top up my oil on my 03 around every 150 miles so that would be pukeing out alot of oil into the air box or engine compartment and there is only a slight hint of oil after a 3000 mile season. So I'm pretty sure it's burning it. It will be interesting to see if my sled burns as much this year. At the end of last season I did the ring free treatment in the gas and sea foam in my oil for the last 100 miles of the season, Then changed my oil.
The reason I asked the original question is because I have a line on an 04 with just over 3000 miles for a decent price and Iam wondering if I want to do it or just wait and get something newer in a couple years. But if there is even a slight chance that it will be an oil burner, I want nothing to do with it. I already have an oil burner!!
LOL.Yeah could be. I drive mine like a stole it so I will never know what it does when not driven hard. just ain't gonna happen

My 04 takes some and my friend's 03 takes A LOT....literally spits raw oil out the back on a cold start up. But to my knowledge the ring change did not come out untill 05 so I'm not sure why the 04 was better than the 03.
Well I just put 1oz per 1qt of oil in motor (seafoam), hoping to run about 100 miles and drain & fill, if nothing else it will be clean.I have a 03 bought it new in 04 as a left over has almost 10k on it now never used a drop of oil i wasnt gental on break end period though so above statement has something behind it either that or i got one of the few 03's that dont burn oil
