04' RX Warrior
Hey yall. Im looking to put a 1.75" backcountry track on my warrior. Though im quite sure the back end of the sled will have to be raised. The 1.5" lugs that are on the sled now are very close to touching the tunnel, not much clearance. So im quite positive the 1.75" lugs would be rubbing the tunnel for sure. Long story short, im looking for instruction on how to adjust the stock suspension, so the #*$&@ end of the sled is a good few inches higher. Any tips are welcome, thanks very much.

might have to go to 8 tooth drivers for clearance on the front. have you checked how much clearance there is now with how it is mounted? might need to customize the brackets with some steel to get it to drop out of the tunnel further.

Even now with the existing 1.5" lugs, there is only about an inch of clearance, between the heat exchanger and where the track wraps around the sprockets. (The very front of the track) The same can be said at the back end of the track, where it approaches the top of the tunnel, there is only about 1" of clearance. So technically, an extra .25" of lug shouldn't be a problem on front or back, but I would still like to have the #*$&@ end lifted about an inch to give it some extra clearance, also to give the sled a more aggressive feel. I take it that the stock suspension wont allow me to raise the sled so? I need to fabricate new brackets to mount the suspension? Im sorry if this is confusing, this is my first sled and would be my first track swap.

if you have that much clearance you should be fine. just make sure that the exhaust protector strips are still secure to the tunnel as i have had a problem with them coming loose before.

there is usually another hole in the stock bracket that you can drop the suspension down to to get better running board clearance to ground. on my brothers 04 rx war mod we called franken sled, he added material below on the bracket and moved the hole down over an inch further. when you move the rear mount down you need to move the middle one down as well about 1/2 the distance to keep the suspension working properly. i would post a pic but photobucket messed every thing up with linking pictures. his sled is extended to 151" and had a ripsaw before it was scrapped to make version 2.0.

Excellent, thanks for that info. Thats precisely what I would hope to do, give the runners just that extra bit of height, also giving some room for larger lugs. I also see now what you meant with an 8 tooth driver. One can gain about 7/16" of extra clearance. Are there any gearing issues with a different sprocket?

Your bros sled sounds awesome. I can imagine the potential of a real long track on a warrior.

as he went to a 151" 2 ply 1-1/4" track we decided instead of re-gearing in the chain case we would use the 8 tooth exroverts to accomplish the re gear needed for that legnth of track as his stock drivers where already in rough shape after 20000 km.

Hmm I see. So if I decided to upgrade to the 8 tooth drivers, with the 136"/1.75" track, I don't necessarily need to do anything with the chain case sprocket? The sled only has about 7300km btw, the stock drivers are still looking good. The only reason I would change the drivers would be to get that extra bit of clearance.

yup. everything else should be good.
