took sled to dealer called and said a bolt from motor mount worked its way loose and rubbed a small hole in oil tank they told me motor had to be pulled and was an 8 hr job at $75 an hour plus parts. My question is does the motor have to be pulled an 8hrs seems to be a bit much is this something that can be done by an average mech. inclined person I usually don't do these things myself as I don't have a garge or the time but with money very tight this year looks like I will have to try any advice thanks Jeff

??? The oil tank is on the right side of sled where you check your oil. Is that the tank they are replacing? I replaced mine on my Vector (it cracked) and it took about a 1/2 hour. This can't be the tank they are replacing but I don't know of another.

Here is another look at a cracked oil tank.
Do you have a warranty with your sled?
If you don't have a warranty, I would try to call Yamaha customer service. In certain circumstances they may "good will" a tank for you.
Next question, who is telling you the motor has to be pulled to repalce the oil tank? This is not true.
This job takes 30 mins or less to replace an oil tank.
Hope this helps!

Perhaps they were also quoting labor to fix the motor mount that rubbed a hole in the tank.
That might be why they were quoting 8 Hrs
