05 RX1 ANY TIPS???

my uncle just bought a 2005 rx1 with 5k on it for $2500... i think he got an ok deal.. at least he didnt go 2 stroke... i was just wondering if any of you rx1 owners have any ideas for things to be checked or updated.. we are goting to do the obvious oil change, chain case oil change, and plugs... just was looking for any issues that he might want to keep an eye out for.. THANK YOU!!!!!!!

-check, grease or replace the jackshaft and driveshaft bearings and seals while the chaincase is apart (http://www.ty4stroke.com/viewtopic.php? ... t+bearings)
-a lot of people upgrade to a 12 or 13mm swaybar to prevent ski lift
-check wire harness at front of hood (and in general) for any spots where it is rubbing on frame
-idler wheel bearings

AN 05 for 2500 I think it was a great deal depending on its shape. Sold my 03 last Feb for 3000. It ONLY had 11,500 miles on it....

Excellent price for one in good shape, I paid $4K last year for my 05 w/ 4000 miles on it, and was extremely happy.

It is a great deal. I picked up on 05 Warrior with 3300 miles for $2500 last year. Wife loves it! No mods except for 108 studs, 2" Rox riser and handguards. I believe the 05 had a thicker swaybar. I picked up an Apex seat for it but she does not want it.

Watch for exhaust leaks and I would change the spark plugs to cr10ek or iridium to stop plug fouling. Keep your battery on a float charger when not in use and change the oil once a year in the spring when your riding is done.

i was just pushing at an 05 rx1 with 731miles for $4100 that i found.. but thanks for your help guys i am sure he will like it.. he was riding a 86 arctic cat 2up.. so i think he will like this alot better. lol

Depends on how much time and $$$$$$$$$$ you want to spend.

Must do's:

Shim Skis
13mm sway bar
Front shocks or at least springs
studs if not already
Mono Shock re-inforcement and powder coating
Check all bushings at rear and front suspension pivot pts.

Dream List:
Apex Seat
Ohlin, GYT or Fox Float front and rear shocks
Ski upgrade
bar riser and cable lengthening
Piped
Clutch Kit

But all of that aside the 05 is my favorite iven in stock form put gas in it and go ride

05 rx-1 doesnt have any grease zerts so that you may grease the bushings..

its front arm in the rear suspension is also weak..

We (Half Baked powder coating) offer a kit to fix all of this.. BEEF-UP-KIT..

Basically for $309 we add grease zerts, add reinforcement gussets to the arms and powder coat the parts in your choice of basic colors and ship it back to you..

Just something to think about if it hasnt already been done..
