Picked up the latest edition of Snow Tech,And found out why Yamaha has no Zerk's(grease fittings)on the MONO rear skid.Yamaha says that the mono rear is now fitted with (needle bearings) for a more smoother friction free suspension travel. As well as an intresting article on how the Mono/ra came about.

Needle bearings still need grease, and it is probably even more important that new grease, added through a zerk, will push out moisture.

My 98 XTC had needle bearings.
Went thru grease like poop thru a goose.
Greased it every 500 miles or so.

Needle bearingr are in the shock pivot points...that would be the shock eyes.......they don’t get any grease from the cross shafts anyway...I think the cross shafts have some type of plastic bushing that dont need grease. ...dont quote me on this ...
