05 RX1 running problem HELP!

My 05 rx1 will not stay running. Ran it in the barn a couple of times and then seemed to foul the plugs. Put in a new set and now it will not run without 1/4 or 1/2 choke. As soon as the choke is of it totally dies out. The warning light stays on without flashing and no other indicator lights are on. Tried both sets of plugs after cleaning with the same results. Are the plugs just fouled again or something else? Not yet broke in but trying. Any suggestions ?

somthing wrong with fuel system or the air filter are not set propperly tight into the carburettors,iwoul sugjest som air leak there

you said "Barn", have you checked airbox for critter nests? Very common for critters to make nests in them blocking or limiting the air intake.

How long have you had it? Alot of areas, like CT, have additives in the fuel which cause it to break down in only a matter of weeks. My dealer warned me to run at least 50/50 race gas if the thing was gonna be sitting much. If the gas in the sled has indeed broken down, your pilots may be clogged. Not a big deal, but a pita to have to do that with a brand new sled.

The sled was snow checked so the gas is old. I put in a gallon of fresh gas though. Its in my pole barn right now no criiters. Thanks for the help

The pilots are plugged, my 05 did the same thing, it would only run with choke. Clean the carbs and you will be fine.

yep pilots jets are pluged as were mine when i got it. dam varnish. it took a lot to get all of the varnish out of them it would have been a lot faster to just replace them

What is the best way to keep the carbs clean??

Put some Seafoam in the gas a few times this season and store it this spring with Stabil.

Two schools of thought on this;
1) Drain them
2) Run fuel stabilizer through them

This past summer was the first time I used Sta-bil and I seem to be ok (not riding yet, but starting good). It seems like there are more and more fuel problems due to storage, and I think I'm going to start draining them again.

Pilot jets

OK I am going to clean the pilots. This is my first 4 stroke and I looked at the parts drawing. Are the pilots on the side of the carbs? Looks like it but I just want to be sure. Thaks for all the help!

when you remove float bowls, its the long jet with holes on the sides of them. burn the paper off a small twist tie and pass it threw several times then visualy check with light to make sure their clean. you can also soak them in CLR or carb cleaner.
