Hey guys,

Been racking up the miles lately and I like the sled(06 Apex ER)more and more each time I ride it. What is great is I did over 100 miles each of the last three days(354 miles) and will be going out today again cause I feel great. The fingers are a little sore but thats it.

Since I have been getting some miles on it...here are my questions/needs that I am looking for some help with at this time.

1) The Windscreen...I want spruce it up a bit like the RTX. I have been asked three times now if my sled was an RX1...kind of sucks I had tell them "no, its an Apex". Has anyone put on a different windscreen? I added some attachments with the two windscreens I am thinking about but would love to see some pics of a 'blue' Apex ER with either of the two windscreens(especially the all chrome on a blue Apex). Thx in advance if you could post the pics. If not anything else and you are reading this...tell me which windscreen you think would look better.

2)Battle scars...Where can I find blue touch-up paint for the blue A-arms? I have no idea how the paint got chipped/scratched but it happened.

3) The "06" Flap...mine looks like a broken tail on a dog. I see other sleds with a strap of some type that keeps the flap from being caught under the track. Is there a place that sells a strap like this or are they most likely home made? Or...has anyone installed the 07 flap? Was it easy to install?

Thanks guys!

Cool...thx for the posts so far guys! I just ordered the pen from color-rite.

Hey gotspeed 24...nice sled by the way...is your windshield black in the photo? It looks black...i just want to make sure. Did you ride it at all with the stock windshield on it? Is there a noticeable increase in wind(colder to ride) with the shorty?

windshield is the chrome one...must just be the camera angle....the shorty windshield is for looks more than anything. the stocker im sure is much better for wind

1- Blue medium windshield looks good and will be alot WARMER then chrome one of GT where wind hits you right in the chest. 2- 06 mudflap sucks for rev. where 07 flap never gets caught. ;)!

Anymore pics of windscreens?

More importantly...I will be getting the touch-up paint pen here soon. How should I prep the scratch/missing paint area. After I put the paint on...should the area be top coated with anything additional?

the touch up pens can be used without any top coat, but to prep the scratch, I would at least use some good wax and grease remover first. You may even find something at a Wal-Mart in the automotive paint section. (Our store here has an aresol can of 3M)
After that, use a toothbrush to be sure there is no debris or foreign material in the scratch. Uswe the pen sparingly, and don't try to fill the scratch in one pass.
After filling the scratch with multiple applications, if you don't like the results, you can VERY CAREFULLY use some 1000 grit wet sand paper and lightly sand it smooth. Then use some rubbing compound and a clean shop towel to rub the sand scratches out, following up by a finer polish. It will take some effort to do by hand, so rub hard and fast, you want it to get warm while polishing.
If you try to spray anything like a clear coat on it, you will most likely make it worse, and have problems with peeling.
Nate

I know windshields are a styling statement to some, and that is fine.

But me personally, nothing smaller than the accessory medium will do.
It is just too cold for me on sub zero F days

That photoshop is great...could someone photoshop the two windscreens/shields in question(medium blue chrome and low chrome windscreens--pics above in first post) on the picture below? I would greatly appreciate it!
