'06 Apex sometimes idles low...almost sputtering...

TPS inspection steps disconnect the TPS coupler connect ohm meter neg lead to blue terminal and pos lead to black terminal check resistance spec 4-6 k ohm at 68 F 2nd test neg lead to yellow terminal and pos lead to black terminal while slowly pushing the throttle check the sensor resistance spec 0-4k ohm

So...the garage is only 10C (50F I think). I loaned my heater out but will get it back in the next couple days.

First test reads 4.3, so seems to be within spec.
Second test the reading slowly drops down to 1.0 by the time the throttle is fully open...so within spec as well I believe.

If you think it makes much difference, I will get the garage up to temp and test again.

Thanks again for the suggestions guys!

Thanks, Artist! But I have the shop manual too and read that after seeing your post.

The numbers were as I mentioned...unless the temperature being slightly cooler matters, I think it's in spec.

change your tps and check your carb boots to be sure they are connected properly.
my tps failed in a similar fashion to what you are describing. when i went to get it replaced my dealer said he had a box of them and could not figure out why. turns out there was a recall on the tps part # but only on the motorcycles not on sleds.
if you do a search somewhere out there there is a service bulletin for the tps part # but only on the motorcycle line. they claim the bike can stall in an intersection and cause an accident. mine would only screw up once the sled got hot.
also spoke to 2 other dealers that have seen tps related problems.
Good luck

Not yet, Kaz...thanks for asking. I intended to update when I found out. But maybe the filter in the airbox being dirty enough? I never even thought to open and clean it when I was dealing with everything else. I have a buddy looking it over now...so we'll see.

RTX...change the TPS even if it's within spec? Boots are fine.

Maybe ECU.old car 15yrs ago did something like what your describing,it was the computer.swap with someone to see or rule out! :yam:

mine was within spec most times i checked it. it seems that when the engine got hot enough it would cause the tps to screw up. it was weird. it was a very intermittent thing but changing the tps solved my issue. and my issue sounded exactly like your issue. do you have a yes warranty?
my dealer swapped mine out no questions asked under yes.

I think if you check the microfiche from 2006 up to now somewhere along the was the tps part # has changed too.

I do have YES...I think it's up in March or something. I'd have to check. I'll look into it if it's still doing it when I get it back. Mine doesn't have to be hot though...just running in the garage and warmed up enough to come off high idle it will do it.

I noticed mine is hard to start when hot, sometimes stalls, you have to ease into the throttle to keep it idling.

My "diagnostic wheel" stopped at spark plugs. Originals @ 13000km's.

TPS falls within specs.

I have not quite burnt first tank of fuel with inj cleaner.

I'm going to fill with fresh premium fuel and test. If it doesn't clear up I will replace plugs............

You may want to inspect your coils on the spark plugs. I've seen a post like this before, and the problem was a electrical leak from the coil body to the vavle cover.
