07 phazer fx
Im looking to get a phazer this winter. It seems that the 07's are the only ones in my price range. I read an updated 07 would be ok. heres the ad:
2007 yamaha phazer fx, all the recalls done, along with the tunnel closure kit.
brand new track on last season 121x1.75
Sled has roughly 4,xxx miles, mostly all trail miles!
Only main issue is that the seat has a rip in it,
I do have a small windsheild along with a big one, along with the brackets.
Askin 3500 obo

Q's: 1) is that an ok deal for new england? or better off waiting, more sleds get posted closer to snow?
2) is 4xxx mi a little high? wear n tear on sled, maintenance?
3)hes uncomfortable giving me the vin in advance, I'm gonna call a dealership when I'm there. Is there a way i can tell if cold start update(s) had been done just by looking at it?
Thanks!

No way to tell just by looking if cold start update was done. 4000 mi is nothing for motor but everything else would require maintenance if not done already. Look it over you will know or bring someone along who does. Is always good to have a impartial opinion. Personally I would not pay that if rear suspension was not updated.

thanks for the reply! By updated, you mean re-valved, or was there a new shock it should have?

Prices are different in Canada vs US. Where are you located? $3500 in Canada is not a bad price. I still see 07's advertized around here for $5K all the time.

I have 6500 kms on my sled with the original rear suspension with zero issues. Last year I replaced all the idler wheels just because more than anything else (the skid out to install a 1.5" Freeride track anyway so it was no big deal).

Regarding the cold start update - there is an updated part number on the ECU. I have attached the cold start service bulletin.

I just bought an 07 FX with 1800 miles for $3000. Owner was moving south and had to sell. He listed it on CG for $3500. I saw another one with 2500 miles listed for $3500 that i offered $3200 for it a month ago, owner just brought his price down on Monday. Unfortunately for him, I had just bought the first one. I think trade in is around $2800 so dealer price for used sled is going to be around $3500 as well.

Rear suspension update was a kit that included the front arm, billet link and pivot shaft. If it doesn't have it look over rear suspension and rails very carefully looking for cracks. Especially the rails which are very expensive.

Sethryder, im over on the west coast in WA. We just bought my wife a fairly stock 08 MTX, 2500 miles. Asking $3900, paid $3500 as a point of reference. Everyone i talked to said spend a little extra for an 08.

I agree with laxdad 07 vs 08 comment when talking about the Mountain Lite/MTX. However, imho, the 07 gt/fx is just as good as the 08 providing the updates are done on the 07. If you get an 07, the Yamaha tunnel block off kit is an absolute essential! I have a pair of phazers and got an 07 gt and a 08 mtx and feel equally confident in both of these models.
