Need to gain access to the relays on a friend's sled. Pull the hood and right side cover and you can see them, but you can barely get hands into the first one. What is the easiest way to gain access to all 4 relays. I want to replace the old style relays with the SSR's. Along with figuring out why it won't start (code 43), so I'm assuming frozen relay after riding the other day. Relay seems to be most likely culprit.

How much of the items on the top of the engine need to come off? Headlight assy, air cleaner assy, and then? or can you remove some of the lower front end panels and get access that way.

Thanks for any input.

Should be able to pull just the hood and access them. they are in the front nose on the left if standing in front of sled.

Tried that. Not real accessible that way. And I don’t have large meat hook hands. I can barely get my fingers in there to pull the relay of the mount. Not a lot of extra wire to pull them out to unclip the harness. I am going to just start removing things until I can get to them easily. Going to replace 3 of those relays to avoid future problems.

If I remember correctly you can pull the mount plastic clip and yank it back. You have to pull all the plastics to get in there.

Update (I know, it took a while)

It wasn’t quite as bad as I thought it would be. All steps are referenced directionally from standing in front of the sled.

1). Removed the usual 3 plastic panels.
2). Removed zip ties holding wiring harness(‘s) for the headlight assembly, removed the push pin clips (6 of them) that hold the headlight and front of dash assembly. Lift the headlight up and out of the way. (It lays up on the dash pod pretty well.)
3). Remove the front bumper and plastic cover. (Cover is 3 phillips screws, bumper is 4 bolts)
4). Turn skis to your RIGHT. This gets the lower steering arm more out of the way. (I figured this one out while doing next step.)
5). Remove the front push clip for the bracket that holds all 4 relays. Swing it to your right so you can reach in and remove the back push clip.

The last step lets you move it around to get at all the relays a ton easier.

If you have not already, I highly recommend replacing at least the fuel pump relay with the newer style solid state units.
