08 NYTRO rtx, first ride issues:bent spindle, need help!

Ive never been a Fox fan but ill give these some more time. Im trying to convince myself that for what they cost there has to be a magic pressure setting in there somewhere. They do seem to stand up better when pounding than my remote dooX shocks did.

On the topic of front end setup when jumping the sway bars also contribute to getting swaped out off of uneven jump faces and they cause the sled to 'snap' down worse on crooked landings. I guess I was so used to not having a sway bar on the snopro that i wasn't fully prepared on the nytro. I am still undecided about the floats, I like the evols that are on the snopro but have only been riding that since september, will have to ride some trails to really decide if an upgrade is worthwhile.

I may try more air pressure without the sway bar next weekend. I am still undecided as to if I will ever even jump this sled. Will be pretty hard to resist tho.

BUT IF I were to be given a couple sets!!!
I would give an honest effort to make them work for me on the FX Nytro.

I think Fox Floats are GREAT for big hits and resist bottoming...

But they are not a trail shock...
These evols might have addressed this and become a great shock. They appear to have all the components to be a quality shock, but again @ well over $1000 no thanks...

Also i know there is a 2100lb torsion spring available but would like a heavier one if possible. I am thinking a revalve will also be necessary for jumping.

RUNNING BOARDS: They feel really nice but are too wide for carving / boondocking. anyone know of any drop brackets available to help fix the problem?

I really think this will be a great trail sled and freeride sled if I can solve these problems.

From what I've read in the other posts it sounds like to wrecked or landed on your side. I've had no problems and I've been riding mine hard testign suspension set ups.

Something to keep in mind is, if you ride like a hack you can break anything.

Landed crooked off of the tiniest little bump, was not a jarring impact. I have landed in way worse shape learning whips on 70ft ramp hits and not broken parts like this. I don't consider myself to be a hack at all, I am also no pro rider. What does everyone assume im some jimmy blaze wannabee anyways? :o|

The word is the race team does use heavy duty spindles. I talked to an industy connection that works with yamaha and he said if I hit the same size stuff I generally do (based on last season) it will ruin it but agreed that this size of bump should not have damaged it.

Bottom line is I have decided this is just not a jumping sled and not worth spending thousands of dollars to make it durable enough to do so. For now on i will ride it on the trails like it is intended.

I still need some advice on putting a studded 1.5" ripsaw on it, I am worried that I risk stud dammage by removing the tunnel protectors for clearance.
 
To shed some light from a different direction on this...
It's happened here quite a bit when someone comes over to TY, and starts posting a bunch of problems with their sleds in an effort to "stir the crap". With so few posts to your name, many of us will get defensive, and for that, I will appologize on everyones behalf if you're intentions are good.

Now on to the topic at hand,
It would seem pretty easy to take any sled out and destroy just about any part you want with the right hit. I would agree that if the jump was that small you shouldn't have had a problem. Just take it in and get it warrantied. I would assume that you would see some kind of damage to the outside of the ski on that sode, so you might want to hope your dealer would fix it for you no questions asked.
My buddy Eric's F7 hit a rock last season, that was about the size of a cantelope. He was going through someones front yard in town on his way home, (on trail). Not only did it bend the lower A-arm, it broke the mounts for the a-arm, as well as bent the Float shock. He had everything replaced under warrany, but it goes to show that nothing is invincible. Have it fixed and move on. Obvoiusly, no one can speak for this sled in great depth yet, but have confidence, every new model is born with crosshairs on it!
 
There was some bent spindles here on last year phazer's too and from what I have seen it looks like exactly the same part. I was thinking about if this could be an issue on the nytro too because of the same part and the fact that the nytro has a heavier front end than the phazer.

I may be a little off topic here refering to the phazer but maybe you can find some tips and helpful reading following the threads on the phazer forum regarding this issue.

Wow small world! That landing was perfect! Exactly what we had in mind. It's too bad you weren't around to build the landing where we practice, guy took forever and the landing didn't turn out so great haha. I was impressed at how quick you built that landin, its pretty tough to be that percise with that rig.

I just saw the video from that event and theres alot of excavator footage in it, they made a cool intro showing all the behind the scenes work. I will send u it once its done.


On another note picking up new parts from Yamaha Canada tomorrow so will see what they have to say about the spindle.
