I have a 08 nytro rtx with simmons skis.It steers so hard my arms kill after 10 miles!!!Any help with set up would be great! Thanks

after you do the above, and if it is still stiff...make sure your sub-frame is not bent...

The Nytros steer harder than any other sled I've ridden. It's the nature of the beast, however there are a couple of adjustments in the suspension that can be done to lighten the steering, as Turk touched on. You can try shimming the skis also, as well as increase spring preload on the center shock.

The best solution without sacrificing suspension performance is to change out your skis for a lighter steering one. Skidoo Pilots are one, Curve skis are another. I recently changed to the Kimpex Arrows...so much easier steering, and they bite in the corners too...much better than the Skidoo Pilots. I've never tried the Curves, so I don't know how they bite in the corners, however I am very happy with the Arrows and will stick with them.

The Camoplast skis make the sled handle WAY better than the Yamaplanks. Steering is light and progressive, sled is so much more fun to ride it isnt funny.

The Camo skis arnt the best looking, but they are cheap and work realy well.

Have you replaced the lower ball joints? I know they steer very hard when the ball joints get loose.

Take some air out of the Floats. I run mine at @55 - 58 psi.

I don't have Simmons but I researched them a bit before I bought the Slydogs. Are you running carbides on the inside and outside? I always read, carbide on the inside and just a wear bar on the outside.

Use the chart on this site for the Nytro setups. Its in the stickies. Help me a ton.

As for Curves, buddy of mine has them on his Poo and he says they steer hard as hell but go where you point them.

You shouldn't have an RTX. these sleds are for aggressive riders only. Anyone else will be disappointed.

Gotta love guys that wanna look cool and buy the hardcore sleds but ride em like grandma. Then they complain about tough steering and a stiff ride so the manufacturers then dial back the suspension and ruin it for the guys who actually want these things. Classic scenario with the original XRS, or 600RR trail.

Now I will admit the nytro is a tougher steering sled but the RTX makes it worse with the stiff suspension. I run a rtx with C&A's which makes it even worse. I love every minute of it. Because it goes where I point it.

Good luck with your RTX. Lighting up your floats will make them work like sh!t, they're aren't made for that.

Don't think a guy needs to be reprimanded because he asked how to reduce his steering effort!

My suggestion would be to borrow a set of slydogs if possible to try for comparison.

All fixed it was the ball joints!!Yamaha recalled them on the 08!!Thanks for all the help!!And to waubamikrider your an arse!I will smoke your a@@ all day steering hard or not!!Thanks again to everyone else!!
