Hey guys looking for a little input on the phazer. My father in law is looking at an 08 gt for his grandson. Is this a good year , any known issues, and what do we look for when we go tomorrow to check it over. Thanks

I would look closely at the front A-arms for overall alignment and symmetry. Steering slop is a chronic issue (I just did bushings on one with 350 miles), so don't be surprised if it is loose. Front arm on rear suspension can crack at top weld, hyfax wear between bogey wheels. Checking fluids, strange belt wear, and for excessive oily residue around the air filter (evidence it has rolled).
Now once you have it, I would recommend the following (just did it to a buddy's phazer):
UP Bushman steering bushing kit - tightens the steering nicely
Copper exhaust gaskets - stock graphite ones wear over time
4strokesolutions rollover / tether kit - 4 strokes do not tolerate being on their side or upside down. Tether is also a mandatory safety item (kind of like a Tek Vest) in my opinion
Pull the front subframe and do a thorough oil change. 13 bolts and a floor jack - not bad at all. This is necessary to do the bushing kit anyway.
Check track tension as factory sets these up really tight in my experience.
Despite the above items, the phazer has been the perfect sled for my 14 year old son. Not too powerful, well engineered, and 4 stroke reliability.
Lots of great info on this site - I have learned so much from these folks.
Enjoy!
