Use a 12 mm box end wrench, the chaincase only holds 250 ml. there is no pressure, a small container such as an empty margarine tub will work very nicely. All Yamaha sleds since 1997 drain this way.
Perfect...Thanks for the advice/info guys!
Now, what type of chaincase oil should I use?
HAHA...JK! Don't need to get another chaincase lube debate going!

Personally, I just use the Yamaha product. It is fairly inexpensive, comes in the right amount bottle so that I don't have to measure. Only Yamaha sled that won't take the whole bottle is my Phazer, smaller chaincase.
You use an entire bottle? Is the bottle only 250mL? If I'm not mistaken, the sled needs about 8 ounces of oil. For some reason, I thought the bottle had more?
Oh yeah, one last thing. My sled has reverse. How much oil should I use? I know there's much said about filling it to the standard vs. reverse line, but does anyone know which is better for a reverse model?

Mine came from the dealer filled to the standard line even though mine has reverse. I was told to fill it to the std line and forget about the reverse marking on the dipstick. I think this was debated heavily in another post if I am not mistaken.
Yeah, I read quite a bit of that dipstick debate earlier today. One wonders "which is best?"...Hmmm
Just curious, has anyone used Klotz chaincase oil?
According to their website, it says it's a synthetic chaincase oil for use in extreme temperatures that has graphite in it. It is SAE grade rated at 10w. Any ideas?

I am using Amsoil Series 2000 synthetic chaincase lube.
I was thinking of using the Amsoil Series 2000 myself...Heard pretty decent stuff about the Klotz lube too...Didn't know if anyone has used it and what their results have been?
I'll probably just use Amsoil...cheap and easy to find!

250 ml is 8 oz and it does fill just to the top of the reverse line. I have an 05 Vector, bought new in Jan. 05 just over 9000 miles, and no issues with following owners manual.
