Thinking about changing the foot rails with after market rails and shortening them up on my 09 mtx. Does anyone have suggestions or photos of what they have done?

Finally put a few miles on my skinz boards and think they are pretty great.

Here is my build I did last year. Really looked good and worked better.

I couldn't ever see how the gussets tied into the running board stiffeners. Do you think you would be able to use the gussets with the stock stiffeners?
Check out the bottom of page 2. Is that what you are talking about? Not sure if they will work with the stock stiffeners.

That looks great. How did you finish off the tunnel where you cut off the extra running board?
Page 7 and 8 have pictures of the sled finished.

I guess I'm trying to figure out how the gusset ties into the rail stiffeners or running boards. If it rivets into the running board stiffener or if it rivets into the running board itself.

Running board stiffener (Running board Trim). Looking over this again I think I tried to put the gusset in the stock running board trim and it would not fit so that would require some more modification. Plus like I said in the build the AC running board trim is a lot stronger then the stock Yamaha trim.

Here is a kit that will work with the stock trim:

This was my back up plan / had more money plan:

Perfect, thanks for the info!

Here's my '08 with a tunnel trim and Better Boards. Skinz bumper fit great and added strength.
