Hello: Looking for suggestions on track tension. Factory settings seem a little tight,(about 1" sag in center) I have always run tracks with more sag with no problems. Any problems on this sled running the track a little loose? Also, anyone using the yamaha dupont sliders? Need to replace mine,and not against using the pricey ones if they are that much better. Thanks in advance for any response. saltr.

I agree with you concerning the track tension. Yamaha settings are way too tight. My sled is a 121' track so, I set my track tension at 1.5 inches of natural sag. I also have a forth wheel kit installed. I put on the new DuPont Vespels last season and feel they are a must. I was getting about 500 miles a season on the old Hyfax. Last year I put on about 1,200 miles on the Vespels and they show absolutely no wear. I expect to get much better than 5,000 miles on the Vespels. Maybe more. As far as clip wear from the DuPonts, I will be watching for this possibility.

My sag measurement on any sled has always been is that if I can get my "three fingers together" (index, middle, ring) in between the track and hyfax I'm good to go. If you have extrovert drivers you can run them even looser as the track won't ratchet under load. BUT, if you have studs, need to keep it at the 3 finger adjustment.
Vectornut - 500 miles? WOW! I'd be going postal! Heck, I get a min. of 4k miles on cheap hyfax. My new 14 LTX has DuPonts on them.....dealer put them on for me n/c.

Yamaha specs are way too tight.
I go about two inches slack.
Just changed mine, with 10000miles on the original ones.
I probably could have gotten a few thousand more however.
Don't forget to break in your slides.
Something no one ever thinks about doing.
Run down the road, with no snow, for a mile, they'll be nice and hot, now swing off the bare road into some nice soft snow for instant cooling of the hot slides.
This cools them quickly and hardens them up.
