1.5 ice storm or 1.6 ice cobra?

I love my 1 3/4 backcountry in The cold sugary snow in northern Manitoba both on-groomed trails and off trail. Serious upgrade from the 1 1/4 that came on my 17 ltx

Haven’t ridden my new XTX with the 1. 6 alot

Pretty sure it’s going to get more lug pretty quick

From what i been reading neither one of those, the lugs bend over on the 1.6 loosing traction and the lugs rip off the storm 150 mine only has 3000 miles on it amd roughly 20-30 lugs ripped off,i would try the back country or the cobra 1.352 if your going to stud

Whats wrong with a ripsaw 2 (2ply) 1.25 or 1.5" lug. Full clip no silent drive.

Cobras are not my favorite for groomed trail riding. After 1000 or so miles they become soft and the lugs fold over losing traction. The Ice tracks may be different? No experience with the Storm. On my Sidewinder I had the 1.75 Backcountry and that had awesome grip on hard pack and loose snow. My favorite by far.

this is going to be a hard decision..i am just tired of not feeling the true power of this sled due to track spin..so adding studs will help on groomed trails while riding in the U.P.?or bigger lugs?

With the sugary/loose snow the UP has, lug height will be more beneficial IMO

As mentioned above, go with the 1.5" Ripsaw 2. By far the most durable track. Cobras are single ply and a storm isnt much better. I found the 1.5" ripsaw to be almost as good as a 1.75" backcountry. You will feel like you gained 100hp! Traction is unbelievable.
Also depends on riding area. Where I am (in Quebec), the trails are always snow covered, studs do nothing for traction except on icy roads/parking lots. More lug is what is needed.

Don't get me wrong the storm 150 is amazing on the trail but it wont take the abuse and down 10mph but the cobra 1.352 seemed to pick up 10mph on my apex switching from 1.25" that it came with

Imo the 1.5 ripsaw 2 with 144 studs trail studs like megabites will give a good hook up on trail.

Just got back from the Northwoods. It's just my opinion....
Note: 1.25" lug w/144 1.5's, rod & blocks removed, heavier cat skid spring on a LTX 137
High 20's for temps & the sled was all over the place under throttle.
Two days later I was riding in 5° & you could feel the snow tightening up.
So, I hit the lake. Now it was biting very good. It would put one ski in the air, just long enough to hook.
Huge difference from snow conditions alone. Trust that.

My geared down 600 could easily overpower a 1.6cobra, in the wrong conditions.
