I have read alot about the 121 track not having enough bite for this powerful 4 stroke motor in the Apex. Have also read that the 136 does not give up any top speed either to the 121. Couple questions:
Are the 136 rails on the Apex tipped ?
You guys that have ridden both what are you thoughts ?
Does the 136 hurt you if you do alot of fast trail riding in the woods ?
THANKS

No, the longer length does not hurt you racing around in the woods. I ran a 2008 Apex GT and I now own a vector 136" and the XTX 144". I would never go back to 121. The ride is just better on the longer track and you can still race around just fine.

I agree with banks, I ride each different length every time out basically, the 136 rides better and hooks up better. If you plan on doing radar runs I don't believe, set ups being equal, anyone would say the 136 would pull better numbers than the 121 if we are talking 06-10 apexes.
Now as far the XTX's go (Nytro and Apex 2011) supposedly might be a different story, no experience there.
And no the Apex rails are not tipped up on the 136" sleds. I will also say that while cornering I notice little to no difference between my 136 and the 121.

If you just stick to groomed trails and lake running the 121 is fine. But i would recommend at least a 136 on any apex. Ive been on my 07 with a 121 since new and will stretch this off season to 136. There just is not enough track under you with all that front end weight from the four stroke moter. We got dumped on here in southern wi last week and i was out breaking trail or one of first people out and i got stuck about 6 times. The back end just trenches in and your done.Very frustrating.Even with a couple long tracks ahead breaking trail at one point i still was getting stuck if i even remotely got off their tracks. Funny thing was an old vmax 600 two stroke just walkd past me in the same conditions.Ill admit im no mountain rider, but it wasnt all me. The apex is just too heavy to be used too much off trail. A 136 might not solve all deep snow problems, but i believe it would be much better.

are you better to extend the track or can you just add more studs? i have 96 studs and i find the rear a little loose.

if your ever gonna pony up on a new track youd be dumb not to extend. luckily for me im gonna put my 121 ripsaw on my old sxr 500 so its win win.
im not gonna run studs if i dont have to cause there are a few local places that limit them from trails. my sxr 500 had studs and i loved em but i was pretty impressed with the stock 1 1/4 ripsaw on the apex without studs except for on glare ice. one has to decide on weather they limit where they ride or how they ride.

this is true, the 1500 miles i put on my new apex in the past 3 weeks didnt seem like it put enough down

Suds do nothing in the deep powder, only on hard pack and ice. lots safer stopping power on the ice.andrew1984 said:are you better to extend the track or can you just add more studs? i have 96 studs and i find the rear a little loose.

I would say go with the 136" not a deep snow sled but the ride is soooo much better and traction is much better, i rode my buddys 121" an it was squerly all over the place, my 136" strait as an arrow
