Wish I had to see your broken rail before I installed my small wheel kit I would have settled for changing slides every year.

Its an old break by the look of the aluminum. I remember hitting a rut across the trail late the season before so hard it almost broke me too. I was wondering why I had no ski pressure, lol!

I'm wondering if you guys moving to a 136" track wouldn't be better off going with shorter 3.5 or 4" extension and moving the skid back 3" to get the 7" setback required. It reduce the angle of attack and possibly remove the need for the low snow wheels. The setback is easy, quite a few MTX guys do a 3" setback to install a 151" track so there are "How to's" on the site.

Thats the zerk that I always put a cap on to prevent open end from getting dirt or ice in.Mine the zerk also leaked grease at weld. Some guys just JB weld the weld to seal it.Those wheels will have to go on inside so spring doesnt hit. That may have contributed to the rail breaking.

i just replaced to upper idler wheels on mine last week.. not easy getting them off the shaft.. i sprayed some PB Blaster in them and let it sit overnight.. came off pretty easy the next day.. and on that lower zerk i loosened the nuts and gave the shaft a spin with a wrench and it took grease..

Cool, thanks guys. Hopefully my parts will be here tomorrow and I can be back on the trail by Saturday. We have so much snow here now its ridiculous. One local guy has gone missing since Saturday.

i had the same wear on my brackets. i just moved them to the inside when i had my skid out.
also, can't get grease in that lower zerk, but i'll try rigidone's trick.

Can't move the wheels inside because they will interfere with the guide wheels. I might just take down the aluminum a bit with my grinder.

that hole at the 9 O'clock position on the lower gear, see that bolt head in there? I just stuck 1/2" extension though the hole to jam up the gear against that bolt head allowing me to break the shaft bolt loose.

That will work or just put the brake on with chain still on there.Impact will do job too.Chain will just be loose till you tension it.Finger tight -1/4 turn.Be sure to mover the rubber seal and jam nut out so you dont get a false reading and also turn the track or secondary a bit to take up slack in chain when adjusting.I put grease all around the cover lip so it slides over the rubber gasket nice.
