What is the part number for the 13mm sway bar for an 07 Apex. What other parts do you have to change when installing the new sway bar, and is it a huge difference?

Check with Pioneer Performance to get it. There are no other parts to change. Makes a huge difference when corning. Inside ski lift is almost gone. You will find it a bit harsher on uneven bumps but nothing to cause trouble. One of the best upgrades you can get for your sled in my opinion. Takes 10 minutes to change it.

Yes its a HUGE difference.. IT does make the sled ride a little rougher on uneaven bumps.. But the handling more than makes up for it..

The sway bar links the right and left skis together and eliminates the body roll. Due to the difference between the roll center and actual center of gravity of the sled with a rider on it centrifical force causes the weight to transfer to the outside of the sled lifting the ski. You could eliminate this with the springs on the shocks but the result would be a sled that beat you to death because it would be so stiff up front.

If you watch NASCAR youve heard tight vs loose

Loose allows the body to roll up front and causes the tires to bight but the back and can fly around on you causing a spin (loose is fast). Tight is when the car stays to flat and does not bite casuing the front to push and you hit the wall head on.

With the 13 mm sway bay the bar transfers the force back to the inside ski keeping the front flatter but not so flat that the outside ski doesn't bite.

And yes if you ride aggressively it is about the best bang for the buck at $90 to make your sled faster and more predictable in the tight twisties.

whew!!! got it?

Its simple.. The thicker the bar.. the less ithe bar can twist and the better your handling becomes..

If you took it out the sled would handle like crap and have tons of ski lift..

Chinger,

sent you a PM on where you can get them in Canada
you can also try mine whenever you want, like stated above it only takes a couple of minutes to swap

Thanks Yamadog (you to Welterracer), nice job with the physics and laymans breakdown, think I got it. Having my shocks on my 07 RTX revalved by Pioneer Performance, you guys got me thinking about getting the 13mm as well.

Thanks!

one other thing to note

when going over whoops that both skiis ride over at the same time ( a wide whoop) the stiffer sway bar has no effect. the linkage, regardless of sway bar stiffness, allows both skiis to travel as a funtion of their spring stiffness only. but when the whoops are uneven ( as commented above ) like riding down the center of a two way trail. you will feel a little stiffer ride......

I love the improvement on my 2006 Apex er

You guys talked me into it! Ordered two 13 mm sway bars last week, one for me and my son. With revalve and sway bar my sled should rock this season! :letsnow: :letsnow: :letsnow:

Take the bolts out of the link bars (one on each side) then slide the arms off the sway bar shaft. Slide the oem bar out and put the 13 mm bar in and bolt the bars back on. 5 - 10 min job and what a difference.
