I am currently running a 2010 Phazer MTX 144". I live on the prairies so there is no huge mountains to climb, I do mostly hill climb, ditch running and fields. Looking at a new Nytro for 10,900.00. But it is a 162". So I am wondering is it worth it? Not sure if I want the extra length. Any suggestions?

with long skid and not much snow u can potentially have problems cooling the sled and burning up your hyfax. When they are that long they need snow to run in. If you ride the praries no need for that length

I own both of them and a friend of mine owns a Nytro 153. Once I couldn't climb a steep hill full of powder with my Phazer MTX that my friend climbed with his 153 Nytro. On the other hand, on another steeper hill, he was able to climb it on his second try and from the tracks of others, whereas I went up from the powder with my Nytro 162. At the end, it kind of depends on the rider and how fast you approach the hill as well. I'm sure an experienced rider than me can climb anywhere with a Phazer since its such a nice sled. The 162 Nytro does look like the big boss next to the others though imo. For your kind of riding you might not necessarily need it, but don't we all buy or want to buy stuff that we don't really use the full potential. It would be a nice upgrade and I don't think the extra length would cause you any inconvenience. Its just a bit harder to maneuver through the trees if you do that kind of riding, but that's also because of the added weight of the Nytro and you get used to it. I hardly imagine an example where someone with a 162 Nytro would say I wish I had gotten the 153...maybe if its too big for his trailer :) If your hesitation is between a 153 and 162 Nytro and you found a 162 available, then go for it. :yam:

I would say that a 162 is not suitable for your area. As mentioned, the longer track affects handling and the tall paddles will cause the hyfax to wear quickly. Other things to consider is that the gearing will be too low and its heavier.

If the sled is such a good deal, you could consider buying it and swapping track/skid/gearing with someone who is looking to go longer or sell it and go go with something aftermarket.

Yes I thought about swapping for a 144 already too. And yes it is a good deal I think. As I mentioned in the begining it was 10,999 I was wrong it is for 9,999.00 CDN. But not really sure what I will get for a trade with my Phazer???
