i bought a 153 cat skid off of a new m7 and did some work to it and it is ready to put in as it sits it weights 50 lbs so that should be a 25 lb drop from the stock 03 mountain 151 skid.
i paid less than 500 u.s for the skid then powdered the arms, polished the rails and added the billets, it is going to be a cheap weight loss and a better mountain skid!

i have another set of performance engineering billets on the way to replace the middle wheels under shock also. it would be nice if i could find a cheap set of king Kat ti springs for this skid!! it would get it down to about 46 lbs then. and that is with the stock arms

I have to say... that skid doesn't look very durable. Good luck.

My brother used to live on Carleton. I'm out in Martensville. By the looks of your sleds, you don't ride around here much. Good to see some more local guys riding blue!
I have never made it out to the mountains yet. It's on my list of things I want to do. I want to go play in the real snow that everyone is always telling me about.

Very close to Lakeridge School.
I hate to burst your bubble but if you are using a skid that was used on a Arctic Cat and it came out of a 151 or 153 track it will not mount in the front stock hole location of your 03 RX1 and fit your 151 track. The front arm is longer than the RX1 one which moves the suspension back to far and makes it too long to fit the track. I had to use a 144 suspension from a 2003 Arctic Cat mountain with 7" wheel in my RX1 151 because of the long front suspension arm. It works great and the front track approach angle is much improved. I still used the 151 track with the 144 rails. I did have to make different rear mounting bracks which I mounted in the same location as the stock brackets. I had to move the rear mounting hole 2&5/8" a head of the stock RX1 location for the rear bolts to mount. I hope I'm wrong about your suspension but I spent a lot of time researching this before I did mine. Good Luck. P.S. A 151 with 7" wheels will work with a 159 track and a 151 with the big wheel kit will work with a A/C 162 track. I posted a report on this last spring under the suspension section.

In order for the suspension to work correctly, the front mounts must be located exactly the same distance from the driveshaft as it would be in the sled it was taken out of. That may mean moving the mounts forward. Nothing wrong with doing that.

the susp is a stcok cat153 off the m7 it will be way strong enough. i am going to set it back in the chassis a few inches and run a 162 2.5 track i have done quite a few chassis and i love the set back. the angle of attack is awsome and the front end stays right were it is supposed to when climbing.
You are correct the suspension will be strong enough. I have been moving the suspension back for years to get a better approach angle and to also use a longer track. I have also done the Thunder Cat with the ZRT mods, it worked great for weight transfer and deep powder riding. Good luck it sounds good to me. P.S. It looks like you have done a good job on the suspension. And I'm sorry about my first post I though you where trying to install it in a 151 track.

Nice job.
I have to wonder about putting a skid from a 500 lb sled into a 600 lb sled and expecting it to handle the load. I don't have any experience doing it but think they must engineer that stuff to the max already. Plus, when I hear about Cats breaking a lot, it REALLY makes me wonder.
Keep us posted on how it works, and good luck with it. Maybe we'll see you out there one day.
