MTamish i am having the same trouble on finding something that will work good. i am hoping by next year someone will ahve something good out. And yes i do think a 9" upper would work and there still should be plenty of room up top for it.

I have a 2- 9" wheels and a "freedom axle" on order from mountain machines performance in Tfalls, MT. This should alllow me to offset the 9" wheels on the rear to take up the slack. should be here to install for the weekend. will see how it goes.
I just ordered a Timberbuilt Rear Suspension & 156 CE track.
Murph, for the 156 to fit you suggested "setback the skid 1.5 inches (decrease the approach angle". Can you explain how to set the skid back? and Does this decrease the appraoch angle or is this another adjustment?

I'll be installing my new Mountain Tamer & 156 track next week. Is it possible to move the drop down bracket toward the rear 1.5 inches intead of larger wheels or a rail extension?
And/or drill the forward rivet out of the front pivot arm bracket on the side of the tunnel and rotate the bracket & arm up and back.

skid setback---- simply drill forward holes 1.5 back in the tunnel, when installing drop brackets do the same.
A word of caution, as you move the skid back, you make it more nose heavy. Found this out when modding the GF Phazer with a 153" Nytro track and 4.5" setback. Ended up with 3 inch setback and lowering the front arm mount holes.
For sure it is a balance game-- with my Nytro, I run stock setback (for now) Mtn Tamer rear, Apex rails and 162" track. I raised the rear arm holes in the mount to lower the ski pressure. I'm not some gnarly chute ripper and I like the lighter ski pressure. For me it seems to help with the downhill U-turns, and tighter tree riding, being able to gas the sled and get the load off the skis so I can get out of the tighter situations.
