'16 Vector XTX idle problem

Most of my research for Yamaha sleds comes from this site! So many well informed sled heads who spread their knowledge for free! I ended up buying my wife a 2012 Vector with a bit over 2000 miles on it! I did take the suspension out of it so I could have all shocks rebuilt, and have done nothing else to it with exception to dual carbides and studs! Such a great running motor and it always starts so easy, always, unlike my 2017 Sidewinder. Sometimes it takes multiple tries and it’s been like that since new, other times it only cranks over 4-5 times and starts! The Vector cranks over twice and starts every time! And yes this 2012 Vector should last us for many years! We use it for riding and pulling our Ice Fishing pull behind sled. It’s strong and has lots of low end torque for that! Wow 77 and still doing it, I love hearing that at my young age of 70!

Friggin 2010,2011,2012,2013 for sure are well built hauling #*$&@ machines. Wife has a 2013 with 9k perfect performance miles. No donuts even. Her last machine was a 2010 same thing until 10k when I traded in for the 2013. This is why i bought the 2010 with 330 miles last fall for 5k. Well worth it. It runs like a raped ape even after sitting 15 yrs. And all we do it put dooly carbides and 102 studs 1.325 woody's. Took the Tuners off my 16 as they stunk and put on a pair from 2010 with new doolys.. love the results.

Put that 16 in sport mode. It will perform!

Sport mode, what year did they start doing that? I know that the Doo 990 ACE was doing that years ago, but didn't realize Yamaha had also?

16 and up on Japan 3 cyl sleds.

Wow, nice to know!!

It has a Eco mode, Touring, Sport. I use touring mostly. Easier on take off. But still gives power when wanted. Eco is even slower taking off for a longer range. I don't use sport cause it's jumpy from stand still. Similar to pre 16's. When everyone bought a soft start spring for the primary clutch.
One nice thing is it has "thottle by wire" so the spring for the throttle is easier on the thumb I find. At least compared to my 2010 and 2013.

CaptCaper, they did not make a Vector in 2003. I think the 1st one was 2005. I have a very nice 2018 Vector for sale with a coil over shock in the rear suspension, my wife's sled, no longer rides, if you know any one looking for one. Last true Yamaha.

Yes we could certainly use that on our 2012! As you said they are jumpy, with lots of low end torque! So much so that both, our 2012 Vector and friends 2011 Nytro, seem like they could run with my 2017 Sidewinder, which is deceptively smooth, and so much quicker once you do a side by side turn on! But yes the 2012 Vector has lots of low end torque!

2003 vm 600 that's not a vector. were talking vectors I believe

Your right, mixed up RS Vector LTX...2003 on the same line
can't seem to find out how to fix that yet. It shows right in this side in this post but the left side colunm not so.

It's due to the amount of text/characters per line and area to display them. The signature below post has more area to fully display everything evenly on single lines. However, the area to left of your post containing your avatar is smaller so it's word-wrapping, per-se.
