looking for some info on the procedure to adjust the secondary belt deflection on my 2016 viper, the belt from the factory is very low on the secondary and I’m seeing premature belt ware and lack of top end. Any help would
Be. Appreciated thanks Dave.

I have the same issue , took back to the dealer and they said that's normal, seen an earlier post same concern the adjustment is made on the backside of secondary take off those 3 screws and put at least 2 more on each screw . It brought the ribs at level with sheaf but i'm not sure if that's enough still most other are running the belts ribs over the sheaf .

It's a bit of a pain to do in that you have to remove the secondary and add or remove the shim washers on the 3 bolts on the back side of the secondary.

Most have purchased an belt deflection adjuster from places like thunder products or OSP which make adjusting deflection a lot quicker and easier. It eliminates the need to remove the secondary and mess around with shim washers. I think both sites have a video showing how it works.

Which belt? The factory 8 JP will have the ribs a touch under the edge of the secondary and not above like most other Yamaha sleds. With a fresh belt mine will "chirp" when stopped a little bit and the track will creep ahead some if the back of the sled is up in the air, just the way I like mine setup. You may also have the "Casting flash" issue on the secondary which you can check by removing the belt and secondary spring. Put the helix back on and run it through the full range of motion making sure that its smooth and doesn't hang up anywhere, even a little bit of drag will case issues.

Belt deflection at idle has no effect whatsoever on top end.
