'18 Spring order model - extra goodies

Wondering if the "race" brake lever is this Tcat brake lever?

I love the look of the 50th with the red/white colors. Many think that blue is Yamahas color but the red/white is their original color of the early sleds including the classic racers. I wish they had the heated shield plug back when I used them but ever since I went BVS2 I don't use them anymore.

I just got the 12volt x rca adaptor but I have never needed to use it.

Yeah I think we are old enough to know, but many of these young kids dont know red was their color..lol

I actually prefer the blue as all my yammies have all been either black or black/red...but never had a blue one.lol

I noticed the RR is not avail in 129 for 18, so for 129 lovers with best shocks, Yammie RTX only game in town.

That's the race lever which is metal not plastic btw. It sucks for feel vs the plastic lever (like your 12 had) and being metal its always cold vs the plastic handle found on the other sleds. The RR did not come with the race lever in 17 if that means anything to you. It's a personal preference maybe you have tiny hands I don't know but the turn down end on the one pictured is uncomfortable if you have a decent sized hand on ya IMO.

My 2017 has the best brake system when compared to any other sled that I have had, or TRIED!!

The oversized (super thick)rotor with caliper combination work really well. Super sensitive to the touch of only 1 or 2 fingers. You need not grab a handful with this brake, and brake lever movement before breaking is very minimal. Just a touch is all that is ever needed!

Needless to say that I like this brake set up.

When I picked up my sled from dealer this past October, I had read what Yamaha had omitted from our initial Spring Surge equipment, and the brake was mentioned somewhere on here. So it was nice to find that they had indeed given us the brake system as advertised. Not so for the expensive RR suspension though.

For all of you 2018 Sidewinder buyers, I hope you get a better set of skis, upgraded clutches and maybe even a change in the steering mechanism for lighter steering, either way you will love the performance this stock sled provides.

They are a gorgeous looking model eh!

I picked up the Orange/Black. Something different and sharp looking.
I'm also a Blue/White fan, reminds of my old SRX.

No heated seat for the M-TX... Grrrr!

Well I pulled the trigger and I'm back after a few years absence from riding.

I snow checked a 50th L-TX LE Red/White. I am also wondering about keeping the non-painted panels clean. I use to ride with some guys on Rev's that had the non-painted panels in yellow, they were tough to keep clean. They had them painted to match and problem solved.

The guy that painted them lives not too far from me. I'm going to pay him a visit once I have the sled to see about getting this done.

I will likely add vinyl to the knee areas...similar to a wrap. Even a white vinyl would be a better alternative, as it can be wiped.

Looking closely at the 18s, the plastic panels are smoother on the sides, and more porous/not as smooth where knees ride, so the knee area will be the harder area to clean/wipe IMO.

This is what I did on mine Dan. I put those foam knee pads. I also found that using simple green with water cleans the panels like new.

Wow Joe that is a killer picture!....I wish the 50th would have stuck with the red panels. And the dash panel is also white next year, which will be tough for sure. I have that cleaner along with many others, so i guess i will just have to keep after it more. Having black sleds for some time now, its been really easy.

I tried the knee pads awhile back and not really a big fan. Im a very active "scooched ahead" type rider, and when using knee pads I found they would grip my knees too much, not allowing me fast sliding of knees against the panels. As you know in our area the tight trails have me sliding from extreme right side of sled to extreme left over and over, so fast movement is imperative for me to really rail the trails.

Ive seen a few wraps already, that have that entire section where knees ride covered in wrap(vinyl) so that for me will be simplest Im thinking....Wont know for sure til I live with the new sled for abit and try it.

Man I cant wait to get back to Qc again, just amazing.
