Hi all
Looking at putting the 2.25" power claw track on my XTX-SE for the upcoming winter and have a few questions:
1: Does clutching/gearing need to be looked at or is the stock 21/41 sufficient?
2: Will stock sliders be able to hold up to the extra wear and tear or is replacement a good idea?
3: Are there clearance issues with the 2.25" power claw in this chassis?
Thanks

I can only address a couple of these.........#2 - sliders should hold up but will probably need to be replaced more often.......be sure to add a set of ice scratchers.....also might consider the Dupont slides.........pricey but should last a lot longer.
#3 - I'd be willing to bet you're going to have to change to smaller drivers for clearance.......I don't know what comes stock and I can't check because mine is 230 mi. away......you're already running a 1.6" track so you need to gain almost 7/10 inch extra clearance.......it'll be tight I would guess

I put 2.25 powerclaw on my XTX SE clearance is tight, but I dropped skid to bottom holes front and rear and it seems to work.

Did you have to re-gear/clutch it to compensate for turning the larger lugged track?

I have Stingray's clutch mods done already, as far as gearing i am looking to regear but havent found enough snow to really test it yet.

One of our Vipers has a 153 2.6 powerclaw on it, no problem on clearance if you put front skid hole on bottom. You may have to lose the tunnel protectors, I removed ours as the M8 did not have them.

I had a mtx that had an original 2.25, cut it down to 1.75 then after a few years went up to a 2.5 with no issues either way for clutching, gearing or sliders. Never changed a thing.
I can't see the viper being that much different then the nytro when comparing model to model.
Scratchers are a must if you go 2.25.
The graphite slides last 3 times as long.

Oh, our other Viper has 162 3 inch lug track, that one I went to 7 tooth drivers.

Why do you say scratchers are a must? For cooling or slide wear? I put a 2.25" track on my 15 Viper SE along with hurriance's turboI had a mtx that had an original 2.25, cut it down to 1.75 then after a few years went up to a 2.5 with no issues either way for clutching, gearing or sliders. Scratchers for both. Especially for the conditions we get here in NL.Why do you say scratchers are a must? For cooling or slide wear? I put a 2.25" track on my 15 Viper SE along with hurriance's turbo
That track will eat slides in low snow or icy conditions.
Was in on the gaff a few years ago with a crowd that were all running 1.25 tracks w/o scratchers and I had the 2.25 with scratchers and got icy in places. They had slide and cooling issues I was perfect with the scratchers.

The 2.25 track will fit fine with stock drivers. I run a 2.5 with stock 8 tooth drivers and kid mounted in top hole and no problems with clearance.
The 21/41 gearing will be fine for flat land use. If you want more fun, drop to the 7 tooth drivers or 21/49 gearing. Clutching will be a must with that track.
You should not have a problem with slide wear. I run a TS SKid with NO WHEELS and only have a problem at the bend. With stock skid and wheels you should not have a problem.

I plan on changing out my tunnel protectors out to the smaller 2015 mtx ones they are half the size of the 2014 viper xtx ones. Just that extra bit of clearance for the track and maybe shed a few ounces hahaha

Just put a 2.25" power claw track on my XTX and did not have to remove tunnel protectors. Moved the suspension bolts to the lowest holes and everything feels pretty good, testing next week in Colorado
