Just got back from a day trip and not 20 miles into the trip the right side strap on my 07 RTX was completely torn in half. After we fueled up and headed back to the trailer I found the left side was torn as well and the bolt and nut was stuck up on the track where it had worn the nut in half, so I had to use a razor to cut it off the bar. First off I should say that these straps have been frayed all of this season. I should have inspected them further before we left but..... :o| This ride was no different than all of my trips, We weren't riding any harder than usual.
I did have to ride the last part of the day without any straps, didn't handle too bad, but definately went south!
Will be calling my dealer tommorow to try to submit under warranty. Does anyone on here know the cost if they won't cover them? Is there an alternative limiter strap that might hold up, like my old Polaris that never even had a hint of wear?
I can just see these straps needing to be replaced again if I can't find a better solution. Doug

I think polaris prox straps would work. Mine look like they would fit on a buddies rtx. Maxdlx

Yes, it happens to everyone with a 07 RTX. Mine have gone twice now. I have never broken both though just one. The right side strap. My dealer replaced it with a completely different strap this time.

same here, broken straps. my father, the artist he is, made me straps out of an old belt. let's see these things snap... it's not happening!

I have been through at least 3 sets of them. Yamaha has never heard of the problem and neither had my dealer. After arguing with Yamaha my dealer got them covered, but the first couple sets were out of my pocket, I didn't want to haul the sled to my dealer. Suprizing enough my dealer was going to get me a extra set to keep with me and magically they were on back order. Hmmmmm? Houston we just might have a problem??? Hmmmm. The straps are like $23-$28 bucks a piece.

My dealer said to call him and let him know how this set plans out. They have been really good to me!

My dealer has warrantied everyone of mine and they put them in as well. Like I said this time they put in a completely different strap.

Totally unacceptable!! 3 sets?? I called my dealer today and the service mgr. was out, typical!! I talked to the parts dept. and the kid said " no , on your sled you have just one strap" :home: He did find a fiche that finally showed the correct setup. You're right $26 per strap plus $ 30 or so for hardware? what gives? Yamaha better step up, this is ridiculous. I'm hoping they go to bat for me but it seems like they have never heard of this happenening! :o| Is there a updated strap or same old crap? I live too far from the dealer to keep bringing the sled up there, give me the parts and I'll take care of them myself. Doug

1600 miles TWO broken straps!! any idea what the "completely different strap" is???? thanks Doug

No idea but it has more holes that the stocker. I will try to get a pic when the snowstorm is over.

3000 miles on the originals. I did go one up from stock and took all the preload off the front shock. Mine are frayed a little. I did read a post a while back that said they were getting caught in the drivers.

Mike, I have followed your lead and set up my sled basically as yours is. Maybe I need to loosen the front skid shock some more after I reinstall new straps. Mine started to get worse right after I noticed the fraying sides too. They basically tore right under the washers. Just keep an eye on them, i'm hearing alot more 07s' limiters seem to be grenading. Doug

This is a very common problem with the 07 RTX.

I've gone through two so far too.

I'm 95% sure the problem is not enough rebound damping in the center shock. This problem has been cured on other ProActive equipped sleds by having the center shock revalved.

I'm hoping now that my shocks are revalved that this won't happen again to me.
