Is the engine in place ?

No not yet.Test mounted pipes to see if there was any chance they would fit or if I needed to get others or make my own.

I think the engine will fit down under but 2 pipes need same fab, just change the angle ..

Merry Xmas every one

Mounted the engine in the chassie today.. here is some picture.

What's this Paris Dakar project you talk about
Yamaha Motor Europe got involved in building a buggy for the Paris Dakar rally. The buggy used the FX Nytro engine. Due to Yamahas fukked up spare parts system, where you can't get complete spare engines and for sure not assemble a spare engine at a lower cost than a new sled, they actually took brand new engines out of brand new sleds.

The empty chassis were sold through a dutch Yamaha dealer and couple of them ended up in Sweden.

Dont made so mutch yet but here is one more picture.. I want to have the engine low in the chassi but the carburetors will not fit then.. ( I have removed the heating plate and exhaust now ) I´m thinking about do some runners between the cab and the engine.. The theories about that goes apart but I heard that runners about 4 - 6" will work for a 2 stroke engine. Otherwise the engine must come up a bit..
The Hauck pipes will be hard to fit in.. want all silencer at the same place and not one in my face =) So have talk to a gay about made custom pipes for the sled and engine..

In the end this sled will be lighter than a stock Nytro. I don't understand why some don't think its a good idea? If you want a 2-stroke Yamaha in a rider forward chassis, this is a way to do it. Another way is to install a Yamaha tripple into a Rev chassis. Jimmy Blaze had one and it was shown in a video or two.

You might think about a single pipe as the Nytro does not have much room under the cowling. It would be easier to tune and day to day runnability will be better.

i know its sacrilegious but i think a m8 or m1000 engine would of been easier because everything is on the front of the engine , plus efi and lots of available turbo kits .

ether way its a cool project . it would be cool to see out on the snow .

That's a good point, might be an easier swap.

For me, if I was going to go through the trouble and effort I'd want to use a different chassis than a Nytro. I'd want to put the Nytro motor in something else. Like that IQR sled that's on Youtube. I've not seen any under hood photos though.

It would be interesting to see how much better a Nytro would do with a lighter weight motor up front.
