quadzillaracer - please share, what is done to your sled, pics of the install. Sorry about that upgrade comment, no need to upgrade when running a VMax on boost, they're flying fast .

The sled is a mint '94 Yamaha Vmax-4 750cc that was bought new in the crate in 2001. The crankcase is a '94 w/ welded crank. The cylinders and heads are stock '92's. We made upgraded additions to pistons to reduce the chances of failure. Total sled weight with 1 gallon of fuel and antifreeze was last checked on platform scale at 496 pounds.
The sleds engine has been very bullet-proof with 18-21 pounds of boost and making over 40 track dyno runs on 118 Klotz fuel. The sled is used for strictly 1000' speed runs and has ran a best of 139 mph in 1000' in 2005. Unfortunatelly making changes has hurt our ability to duplicate this run. Which brings us to today and being on the track dyno. We finally have documented multiple TRACK dyno runs at 179.9 h.p. which according to the operator equals about 350 h.p. off the crank on the normal sled. We are running into a lack of fuel on the top end and I had some questions. After talking to Dyno Tech's Jim, we have "seemed" to narrow the problem down to not enough fuel PSI under full boost- load.
If you would like to see some pictures of the sled go to Vmax4.com, to the braggin' page. There are some older photos of the sled and engine, but much has changed since those photos.
Have a good one!

Thanks Pro116. Later this summer I'll post some updated pictures and I think we have a few digital videos of dyno pulls over the past week. The '07/'08 speed run season should be a blast!
