2003 RX1 no start....

Ok pretty simple circuit here. Power has to flow through two different sets of contacts in the start switch in order to pull in the starter relay.
From what you have checked so far I’m leaning twards a bad connection on the start switch.

You need to check for voltage when you are actually trying to crank the machine over. First I would check the red/white wire going from the relay to the switch. Then the brown/white coming from the kill switch.

You must be cranking wen you do all your checks

A 12 volt test light is really easy to use here, you should have it pinpointed within minutes

Just hold the key in the cranking position and start checking all of the highlighted wires for power.

This shows a step by step of diag&how to check for a bad relay

Yes but it only tells you how to check for a bad starter relay, if that checks out then it refers you to other sections of the manual.

From what he has previously checked I’m leaning twards a bad ignition switch or connection.

I would start by checking the brown/white wire at the ignition switch and see if you have power while cranking. If you have power there and not at the red/white then the switch, or connection to it, is bad.

Alright so I was out working on the sled and while I was testing the red/wht wire at the ignition plug I had no power but as I pushed the test light in further while turning the key it suddenly cranked over oh yeah. So what I noticed is that the wire had slide back out of the plug just enough to not make contact. Now that issue is resolved lol, And again thank you all for the input and helping me figure this out definitely two thumbs up to you all.

I noticed that the fuel pumps are empty ok I guess it makes sense but after cranking it over to the point of almost killing a new battery and choke wide open still nothing. I did notice last season if the sled sat for a day or two without being used I had to blow in the fuel tank vent to pressurise the tank and after a bit it would fire up its like the pumps go dry what can be the cause of this?

Glad you found the problem!did you have your fuel tank shroud off recently? When I last removed my shroud i was surprised to find corrosion on my plug at the ignition switch as my sled is always kept in a heated garage&very well cared for.after thorough cleaning& a quality electrical terminal grease it has stayed corrosion free.As for your fuel issue there are a few possibilities.have you replaced the fuel filters?(one dealer told me they didn't have fuel filters!)have the carbs been cleaned?I would check all of your vacuum lines for any chafing, nicks or cuts. The rx1 after sitting for long periods do tend to start hard.some guys remove the airbox lid&spray fuel into the carb throats, others use a small funnel&pour fuel into the lines at the pumps,or blow air into tank as you did,if the fuel pump diaphragms are dry they do not tend to pump. Also make sure to have plenty of fuel in the tank& i personally only store my sled with non ethanol fuel&run it after putting the non ethanol in,or some guys drain tank&carbs completely before storing.where I live the ethanol fuel is junk&causes tons of small engine problems even when people have used stabilizer.Cleaning the carbs is a time consuming task that I haven't had to deal with since storing with non ethanol fuel

First thing to do is clean those carbs, if they haven’t been done in awhile it’s a good idea anyway. Make sure you choke linkage is properly adjusted first tho.

the gas evaporates from the carb bowls through the vents when they sit. if it sits long enough, it will let the whole system go dry. that is why you need to pressurise the fuel tank through the vent line to fill the bowls again. my fix for that was to fill with nonethenol 91 with stabilizer and run the sled up to temp every 3-4 weeks. carbs always are clean when checked and i replace the fuel filters every 3 seasons as they are easyer to replace than clean the carbs on the sled.
