So a friend of mine bought a 2004 Warrior off craigslist. After 3-4 days of riding (not many miles), he found out it took a stud to the front exchanger and it has a small leak.
The previous owner used JB weld to try and fix it and it still leaks.
Is this a major project to replace the front exchanger? The local Yamaha shop wants $1200.00 to fix it, and we would like to do it ourself.

Take the track and driveshaft off.
Clean it up with a wire brush on a drill or grinder.
Weld it. Yes, aluminum can be welded. Any half decent welder should be happy to do it for probably about $20.

Welding aluminum isn't as hard as people think. Dad learned how to weld aluminum pretty good in just a couple days. He built his own box slide for hauling wood by welding together a bunch of aluminum plates for the bottom, the welds looks really good as well. All the same, aluminum welding is the srongest most durable stuff at all.
