Got a 2005 Rage. Was running fine until we were out about 90 miles. Started to lose power and run rough. limped it home. Got up the next day, it stated fine, checked the plugs nothing wrong. Rode another 90 miles it was perfect, then it started again. after about 10 miles we stopped for gas. Filled up and headed home. For the next 20 miles it was perfect. then last 10 miles started again. Stared the next day with power loss and back fire no lights or codes. Replaced both fuel filters, coil packs, fuel, added fuel additive in case of water. Still have same issue. Now what?

I had intermittent power delivery issues last year with backfiring and sputtering from time to time. Mine ended up being the fuel lumps. Bought 2 used pumps from BOP for $20. It runs good now.

Thanks, I am really puzzled. I have never had a fuel pump go bad. I thought it would just die completely. So I guess that will be my next try for a fix.

I knew mine had to be a fuel problem because it I held it at WOT for a long time, like 15 seconds, the floats would run out of fuel and it would die. Otherwise it seemed more electrical related because it was intermittent at part throttle like the ignition was cutting out. It wouldn't die at part throttle but it would run rough and stumble at times. I replaced fuel filters and went through the carbs and fuel lines and then finally replaced the pumps.

That sounds very familiar, I just found a set of pumps on ebay and have them on they way. Should know by the weekend. Thanks again.

If you have another sled (2005-2007) with the same engine try swapping the ECU to eliminate that causing the issue. Also check the gas tank vent line. Two common problems on these sleds are corrosion in wire connectors and the 2005-2007 had faulty timing chain tensioners.

The 05's had a TORS issue. Should be something on here if you do a search.

The TORS issue would give a code in the display and most 05's should have been repaired under warranty.
